Blessed to welcome the sacred pilgrim image of Our Lady, Star of the Sea, today as she visited us as part of the Stella Maris Seafarers' Center-Cebu's journey to maritime institutions ahead of the 19th Feast of Our Lady, Star of the Sea, and the 31st National Seafarers' Day!

A Holy Mass was celebrated upon her arrival, with flowers and flaglets waving in welcome. She stays with us tonight, wrapped in prayer, before continuing her journey to the next host.

This year's theme, "A journey with Mary, the Star of the Sea: Steadfast through the waves, Resilient amidst Challenges," reminds us of the sacrifices our seafarers make every day for their families and our nation.

Seafarers with pending appointments for the issuance or renewal of their Seafarerโ€™s Record Book (SRB) and/or Seafarerโ€™s Identity Document (SID) whose Seafarerโ€™s Identification and Record Books (SIRBs) are approaching expiration or have already expired may be granted an extension, provided that they have an immediate departure to board a vessel.

To avail of the extension, qualified seafarers are required to personally visit their selected processing center and present the following:

1. Request letter from the employing company;
2. Confirmed airline e-ticket of the seafarer;
3. Approved DMW contract, or a notarized company contract with the seafarer, or a Certificate of Employment; and
4. Confirmed online appointment for the SRB/SID application.

This measure is being implemented to assist seafarers with immediate deployment amid the current challenges affecting the regular issuance of SRBs and SIDs nationwide.

Further updates on the resumption of regular processing of these documents will be announced by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) through its official communication channels.

Today, we recognize our Chief Cook, whose special Monggo Soup was so well appreciated that it caught the attention of the shipowner himself.

For a seafarer, cooking is more than preparing meals. It is about keeping the crew well-fed, motivated, and reminded of home, even when thousands of miles away.

Please be informed that the MARINA SRB/SID System is currently experiencing technical difficulties nationwide.

Our Technical Team is actively working to resolve the issue and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

Consequently, SRB/SID processing nationwide is temporarily suspended starting from 14 August 2026 until further notice.

Affected applicants are advised to wait for further announcements on the resumption of normal operations.
