A TOUGH DAY, BUT POWER STILL HELD

On 08 September 2026, the Oriental Mindoro Grid experienced three separate incidents that resulted in service interruptions and two load-dropping events.

Despite these challenges, dependable capacity remained above actual demand throughout all 24 hours of the day. No load-dropping event was caused by an actual shortage of electricity.

At the 7:00 PM peak, 37.52 MW of contracted capacity was unavailable.

The three largest contributors were:
• PHESI – 16.00 MW
• DPC – 7.51 MW
• IMHPP/Inabasan – 6.00 MW

Together, these accounted for 29.51 MW of the unavailable capacity.

During the two load-dropping events, eight feeder operations were recorded—three under Manual Load Dropping (MLD) and five through Automatic Load Dropping (ALD).

All affected feeders were restored within 35 minutes.

The first load-dropping event, at 4:14 AM, followed a sudden decline in wind generation. The second, at 2:00 PM, followed the tripping of the Calangatan 69kV bays, which also took approximately 10 MW of Inabasan generation offline.

ORMECO recognizes that these events highlight continuing challenges in generation reliability, system response, and transmission infrastructure.

The cooperative continues to coordinate with the concerned system operator, transmission asset owner, and power providers on measures necessary to strengthen grid reliability and resilience.

ORMECO remains committed to transparent reporting, timely restoration, and reliable service to its Member-Consumer-Owners.

💡NO LOAD DROPPING UNDER RED ALERT

On September 7, 2026, the Oriental Mindoro Grid experienced Red Alert conditions due to a projected supply deficit. Despite this, no Manual Load Dropping (MLD) was activated.

Why? Because the actual situation turned out better than the initial forecast:
🔹 IPP supply delivered higher than forecast, thus, supply remained ahead of demand
🔹 Actual demand was lower, attributed to cooler weather conditions.

Most importantly, the Nine feeder interruption events were attended to and restored within the day, with most restored in 6 minutes or less.

⚡️The tightest margin was 4.35 MW at 2:00 PM.

The Red Alert and MLD readiness were appropriate based on the information available that morning. But as actual supply improved and demand remained lower than forecast, load dropping was ultimately not necessary.

📌 when supply is tight, MLD is a last resort. We continue to work closely with our power providers and system operator while responding to distribution faults as quickly as possible.

We believe our Member-Consumer-Owners deserve not only reliable service, but also clear and truthful information about the power situation.

NATIONAL TRANSMISSION CORPORATION (TRANSCO) ADVISORY: RED ALERT STATUS
September 8, 2026

Red Alert Period:
09:00 AM – 04:00 PM
07:00 PM – 09:00 PM

CAUSE:

The Oriental Mindoro Grid is forecasted to experience insufficient power supply due to reduced generation availability and existing power plant constraints.

Based on the latest TRANSCO-SIGSO Dispatch Report , the following Power Plant conditions were noted:

1. DMCI Power Corporation (DPC) – BG4 under Preventive Maintenance Shutdown (PMS) and BG3 under Corrective Maintenance Shutdown (CMS).
2. POC CDPP – under Fuel Management.
3. POC-MHEC – No Fuel
4. EPP TPI Calapan – Low Fuel condition reported.
5. EPP Top Team Socorro – Low Fuel condition reported.

EFFECT:

Forecasted dependable supply is only 63.50 MW against the following projected peak demands:

Morning Peak: 67.62 MW — 4.12 MW deficit
Afternoon Peak: 69.63 MW — 6.13 MW deficit
Evening Peak: 65.25 MW — 1.75 MW deficit

The insufficient available grid supply may require Load Dropping during the declared Red Alert periods to maintain system stability.

STATUS: RED ALERT

ORMECO's Load Dropping Program is on standby for immediate implementation, if required, based on the actual grid condition and further instructions from TRANSCO.
