Office of the Provincial Public Employment Service Manager -Aklan Province Local and Overseas Employment Facilitation The Aklan Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) was re-established in 1996 during the incumbency of Gov.

Florencio T. Miraflores to implement the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) or Summer Job. It was in this year and succeeding years that construction boom in the Boracay Island was in its peak, hence with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the Provincial Government of Aklan, thru the newly-reopened PESO, sponsored several trainings for skilled work

ers (i.e., Carpenters, Masons, Electricians and Welders), who were awarded with starter tools during their graduation. Pursuant to Republic Act No. 8759, otherwise known as the PESO Act of 1999, the Provincial Government of Aklan sustained and maintained the office as a multi-employment service facility. By the year 2006, PESO was transferred under the Economic Enterprise Development Department (EEDD) โ€“ Tourism Operations, ensuring the prompt, timely and efficient delivery of employment services and provision of information on the different programs and services of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and other link agencies including Local Business Establishments and Licensed Recruitment Agencies.

A total of 100 qualified scholars gathered at the ABL Sports and Cultural Complex, Provincial Capitol, Estancia, Kalibo, Aklan for the successful conduct of the Aklan OFW Scholarship Program (AOSP) Orientation held at 1:00 PM and organized by the OPPESM.

Mr. Marsh B. Bernabe, Provincial Government Department Head of Aklan OPPESM, delivered the opening remarks, while Mr. Leo B. Teodosio, OPPESM Staff/Focal Person, provided important orientation and guidance to the scholars. The program was hosted by Mr. Dwayne A. Arrieta.

The activity highlights the Provincial Government of Aklanโ€™s unwavering commitment to supporting deserving Aklanon scholars by providing educational opportunities that inspire academic excellence, personal growth, and a brighter future. Empowering Aklanon Youth: SPES 2026 Orientation Kicks Off!

The Provincial Government of Aklan, through the Office of the Provincial Public Employment Service Manager (OPPESM), in strong partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), officially rolled out the orientation for the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) 2026.

The event commenced with a warm and encouraging welcome from Mr. Marsh B. Bernabe, PGDH/Aklan PESO Manager, setting a motivated tone for the incoming student-beneficiaries.

Our Provincial Governor, Hon. Jose Enrique M. Miraflores, graced the orientation with an inspiring message, emphasizing the provincial government's commitment to supporting the education and career development of Aklanon youth through meaningful work experience.

To equip the students for their upcoming deployment, Ms. Sharon Mae V. Julian, Labor and Employment Officer I, formally led the orientation proper. She comprehensively discussed the core of the SPES program, the duties and responsibilities of the beneficiaries, necessary requirements, and crucial reminders to ensure a successful and productive work term.
