Confused about paying people for Anzac day? I always get questions about paying staff on Mondayised holidays - this year it is Anzac day - For ANZAC Day 2026:
Employees who normally work Saturdays will observe ANZAC Day on Saturday 25 April (no transfer applies). They are entitled to a paid day off if they do not work, OR if they do work, they must be paid time and a half and receive an alternative holiday.
Employees who do not normally work Saturdays but work Mondays will observe it on Monday 27 April, and will get a paid day off if they do not work, OR if they do work, they must be paid time and a half and receive an alternative holiday.
Key points to keep in mind:
Employees are entitled to one ANZAC Day only, there is no “double dipping”.
If an employee does not normally work Saturdays or Mondays, and does not work on either day, they are not entitled to a paid public holiday.
Hope that helps!
