Night Shift Supervisor

Dyeing & Spinning Facility – Oamaru

We are seeking a motivated and capable Night Shift Supervisor to lead our night operations at our world-class dyeing and spinning facility in Oamaru.

This role requires someone who can work effectively while leading a team, balancing quality, safety, and production demands in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
On-the-job training and support will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

-Lead and support the night shift team to meet production and quality targets

-Monitor and enforce all health & safety procedures and policies

-Monitor, investigate, and report quality issues

-Make informed decisions to balance quality and production priorities

-Assist with procedure changes, including writing and updating procedures in the company database

-Communicate effectively with management and day shift teams

About You

You will bring a positive attitude and strong leadership skills, along with:

-Excellent time management and organisational skills

-Strong appreciation of workplace safety, with a proven safety record

-Ability to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities

-Superior communication skills, both written and verbal

-Experience with lean manufacturing principles

-Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

Key responsibilities in this function include:
• Loading wool into the dye vats
• Measuring and adding the dyes and chemicals
• Controlling the dye process
• Drying the dyed fibre

We are looking for someone who has:
• An excellent appreciation of workplace safety
• A great work ethic
• The ability to work well in a small team
• A positive and “can do” attitude

Previous experience with factory work, forklifts, chemical handling, and cranes is an advantage but not a requirement.

Preferred candidates will be required to undergo and pass a full medical check, which will include a colour blindness test, and drug & alcohol testing.

This job involves blending large volumes of different wool types into a uniform product. Much of the blending is done using large industrial machines and a forklift, but manually moving wool in bales by trolley is also a part of daily duties. This is a relatively physical job and a degree of strength is beneficial.

The successful applicant would be trained for about 2 months in the day shift before starting their allotted shift.
