Week 2 of our beginner ski sessions was a great success!

Time on the water is the most important hurdle with ski, so a massive thanks to our coaches for giving your time to our 13+ team.

We're only a few weeks out from another exciting season starting. If you've got any questions around Surf Lifesaving at Westshore for junior age (7-13) or a teenager or adult keen to learn about becoming a lifeguard, get in touch!

Junior Surf is BACK starting on Sunday 1st November!! 🥳

We can't wait to welcome back all our junior members and their families, and new kids wanting to come down and give it a go.

If you child is aged between 7 and 13, come down and join in the fun absolutely free to make sure it's something they wish to do.

Make friends, learn water safety and grow confidence in the ocean.

HAWKES BAY ICEBREAKER EVENT

Date: Saturday 17 th October 2026
Venue: Westshore SLSC
Address: Ferguson Avenue, Westshore
Cost: $5.00 per person (individual or team member if from outside HB Clubs)
Time: 9am Officials Briefing, 9.15am Race Briefing, 9.30am Start

EVENT INFORMATION
Entry Information
Entries must be made using the SLSNZ Online Event Entry System Waves. Your club has access to this system and will process your entries. Following the close of entry as detailed below entry fees will be invoiced directly to your club if applicable.
Entries Open: 10:00am, 1st October 2025
Entries Close: 10.00am, 15 October 2025
Entry Fee: $5.00 (inclusive of GST) per person (individual or team
member if from outside HB Area)

Fluro Vests must be worn on the ski and board leg of the race. No fluro vest then you cannot race.
Competitors are asked to use Westshore SLSC changing rooms for showers on completion of the event.
BBQ immediately after event finishes at Westshore Clubrooms followed by prize giving.

There will be prizes awarded for:
1st , 2nd and 3rd individual male and female team to complete event.
1 st Male, Female and Mixed Teams

In case of adverse weather prevailing and a change of course is
required there will be an announcement made via SLSC HB page by Friday 16 th October 6pm with full details of any course changes.

2026 IRB ENGINE WORKSHOPS

You're Invited to sign up for the IRB Mercury Engine Workshops. This is an opportunity for Clubs to service operational IRB engines in a structured workshop.

1. Candidates will learn about basic engine maintenance/service requirements.

2. Club IRB engines will be “fit for purpose” for the operational season.

There are no pre-requisites to attend this workshop.

The people attending for your Club DO NOT need to be lifeguards, an interest in IRB operations is all that is required, so this could be a perfect opportunity to involve parents or Club supporters.

It is also highly recommended that the person responsible for Club engine maintenance attends.

Event Guards Required

Iron Māori will take place on the 7th November and we require the following for event guards. Please note anyone that wishes to event guard needs to have completed their Event Guard Module in e-trainu. You will be enrolled as soon as you put your name down and this must be completed before the day.

IRBs

6x Driver and Crew Persons

Rescue Board with Tube - must have Board rescue module

A great start to the first HB pool champs training this morning. Great to see new faces and everyone having a go!
