💗 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 💗

Breast cancer affects so many people here in Aotearoa, whether it's someone going through it themselves or a friend, family member or loved one supporting them along the way.

It's a good reminder to check in with ourselves, get familiar with what's normal for our bodies, and not put off getting something checked if it doesn't feel right. Early detection can make a real difference, and it's always worth making time for your health.

Sending some extra love to everyone currently going through breast cancer treatment, supporting someone they love, or remembering someone they've lost. 💗

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week | Belonging Matters

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, and this year's theme is Belonging Matters.

We all want to feel like we belong, whether that's at work, at home, or in our wider community. Having people around us who make us feel welcome, included and accepted for who we are can make a real difference to how we feel.

Sometimes it's the little things that count. Checking in on someone, making an effort to include someone new, or taking the time to have a chat. You never know what someone might be going through, and a little kindness can go a long way.

This week, let's make an extra effort to look out for each other, make people feel welcome and remind those around us that they matter. 💚

What are we seeing in the Christchurch job market right now?

As we head towards the final few months of the year, we're seeing plenty of movement across a range of roles, with employers continuing to look for people who can bring the right skills and experience to their teams.

We're seeing opportunities across administration, office support, industrial, trades, logistics and professional roles, with both temporary and permanent positions coming through.

If you're thinking about making a move, it can be worth keeping an eye on what's out there even if you're not actively job hunting yet. The right opportunity doesn't always come along when you expect it!

We're always happy to have a chat about what we're seeing in the market and where your experience might fit. 💚

What a conference!! 👏

Greenlight Recruitment were incredibly proud to be sponsors of the 2026 CBAFF Conference, celebrating 30 years of the Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Federation of New Zealand Inc.

Craig, Meg and Julia had a fantastic few days at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, catching up with people across the industry, making new connections and enjoying plenty of great conversations along the way. It was a brilliant opportunity to step outside the day-to-day and connect with the wider freight, logistics and supply chain community.

We were also proud to sponsor the Chill Out Lounge, giving delegates a place to take a breather, have a coffee and catch up between sessions. ☕️

And the programme certainly delivered! From the fantastic industry tours and the opportunity to see some of Christchurch’s operations up close, through to the sessions, networking and a great Gala Night to finish things off, there was plenty to enjoy.

The whole event was incredibly well run, with a great atmosphere throughout and plenty of opportunities to connect with people across the industry.

A huge congratulations to the CBAFF team on 30 years, and thank you for putting together such a great conference. We’re proud to have been part of it and already looking forward to seeing what the next chapter brings!

⏰🌞 Daylight Saving starts this weekend!

A little Friday reminder before the weekend kicks off: the clocks go forward by one hour this Sunday as we head into daylight saving.

That means longer evenings, a bit more sunshine and… one less hour of sleep. 😴

If you’ve got an early start on Monday, it might be worth getting yourself to bed a little earlier this weekend and giving your body a chance to adjust.

Summer is slowly making an appearance, and we’re definitely not mad about it! 🌿☀️

And if you’re heading somewhere this weekend, don’t forget to check those clocks!

🌱 Spring Clean Your CV!

Spring is here, so it’s the perfect time to give your CV a little tidy-up too. Before you start applying for your next role, take a few minutes to clear out the old and make sure your CV is showing off the current you.

✨ A few things worth checking:
• Is your most recent experience included?
• Are your contact details still correct?
• Have you removed any outdated or irrelevant information?
• Do your skills and experience match the types of roles you’re applying for?
• Is it easy to read and not overloaded with information?
• Have you given it a good proofread for those sneaky little typos?

You don’t need to completely rewrite your CV every time you apply for a job, but a regular refresh can make a big difference.

A clean, current CV means you’re ready to go when the right opportunity pops up. 🌷

It’s Te Wiki o te Reo Māori! 💚

This week is a chance to celebrate te reo Māori and the important place it holds in Aotearoa. It’s also a great reminder that you don’t have to be fluent to give it a go. Whether you’re learning a new word, using a familiar phrase, or simply taking the time to learn more about te reo and its meaning, every effort counts.

Te reo Māori is a taonga, and keeping it heard, used and shared helps it continue to thrive for generations to come.

Ake Ake Ake 💚
For now, for always, for generations to come.

💛 World Su***de Prevention Day

This week, we’re taking a break from our usual content to focus on something that matters far more: people.

You never really know what someone is carrying behind the scenes.

Someone who seems like they have everything together might be struggling. Someone who is a little quieter than usual might just need someone to notice. And sometimes, the person telling you they’re “fine” might not know how to say that they’re really not.

We don’t always need to know what to say or have the answers. Sometimes, just being there can mean more than we realise.

- Check in. Ask how someone is really doing, and don't be afraid to ask twice.
- Listen. You don't need to fix things. Sometimes people just need someone who will sit and listen.
- Be there without judgement. Let people know they can talk to you, whatever they’re going through.
- Notice when something feels different. If someone doesn't seem like themselves, reach out.
- Stay connected. A message, a phone call, a coffee or simply sitting beside someone can be enough to remind them that they matter.

And if you’re the person struggling right now, please know you don't have to carry it all on your own. Reaching out can be incredibly hard, but you deserve to be heard, supported and cared for.

This week, let’s be a little more patient with each other. A little more compassionate. And a little more willing to check in.

Because sometimes, knowing that someone sees you, hears you and cares about you can make all the difference. 💛
