👋 Meet Trina – Recruitment Manager

Trina leads recruitment at Max People, with a strong focus on building the relationships and talent pipelines that help our clients plan ahead.

A major part of her role is developing and maintaining our international recruitment relationships, creating strong candidate pipelines from Ireland, the UK and further afield and connecting great people with opportunities here in New Zealand.

Within the NZ dairy industry, Trina works closely with farmers to plan for seasonal and long-term staffing requirements, while supporting international candidates through the entire journey, from their first conversation with Max People through to arriving in New Zealand and starting work on farm.

Across Construction and Civil, Trina supports our recruitment team to deliver workforce planning and staffing solutions for some of our larger clients. That includes looking ahead at upcoming projects, understanding where workforce demand is likely to grow and making sure our team is building the talent pipeline to support it.

For Trina, recruitment is about more than filling today's vacancy. It’s about relationships, forward planning and having the right people ready when our clients need them.

🌿 From Ireland to New Zealand – Meet Esther! 🇳🇿🐄

First up is Esther from Kilrea, Ireland, who came to New Zealand through her studies at Greenmount for the opportunity to spend a year working in the NZ dairy industry.

🐄 Where were you working?
Esther was placed on a 1,100-cow dairy farm in Mid Canterbury.

🚜 What have you learned?
During her time on farm, Esther has gained and expanded a huge range of practical skills, from milking in a rotary shed to plenty of tractor driving.

🌿 What’s different about farming in NZ?
For Esther, it’s been quite a change from farming back home; including some 3:30am starts! She’s also experienced the NZ pasture-based system, with cows outdoors throughout the year, including during our winter calving season.

💚 The best part?
Definitely the social and work-life balance. Despite those early starts, Esther says there weren’t many nights she was still working past 4:30pm; leaving plenty of time to make the most of life in New Zealand.

It’s great seeing the experience our international candidates gain while they’re here, not only developing their farming skills, but experiencing a completely different dairy system and a new part of the world.

For Tadhg, It’s about getting to know our clients, understanding their projects, their teams and what they actually need from the people working onsite.

Tadhg works closely with our clients to understand what’s happening now and what’s coming next, so we can start building the right talent pipeline before the need becomes urgent.

He’s also a familiar face onsite, regularly checking in with our clients and Max People team to make sure everything is running as it should.

Because finding someone who can do the job is only part of it, finding the right person for the client and their team is what matters.

🎓 A very proud Max People moment! 🎓

A huge congratulations to Chielamy and Aireen, who graduated last week with their Bachelor of Commerce in Taxation and Accounting! 👏

Both Chielamy and Aireen joined Max People earlier this year as University of Canterbury interns, gaining hands-on experience with our team while completing their studies.

We were so impressed with them both that, following their internships, they stayed on with Max People in casual roles while finishing their degrees and preparing to take the next step into their chosen career paths.

This week marks the beginning of that next chapter, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved. 💚

It has been fantastic watching them grow in confidence, develop professionally and become part of the Max People team along the way.
