Pharmacists from the UK, Ireland, USA, and Canada are about to have a more straightforward pathway to New Zealand.

The Pharmacy Council of New Zealand is removing the CAOP exam for pharmacists on the Comparable Pathway, making registration simpler and speedier. This change is expected to take effect in September/October 2026, so now is a great time to talk to our experts if you'd like to explore your opportunities to build a new life in one of the world's most peaceful countries.

Lucas and his family moved from just outside of Seattle, to sunny Whangārei! As a dentist, Lucas was able to get immediate residency in New Zealand through the Green List pathway. He reached out to let us know that he's loving his new co-workers, and his family are enjoying exploring the city and making friends.

Whangārei is a beautiful coastal city north of Auckland - very close to the internationally-renowned marine reserve of Poor Knights Islands, ideal for snorkelling and diving! Lucas and his family are making the most of the picturesque Whangārei Falls here.

Matariki (the Māori New Year) is marked by the rising of the Pleiades constellation in the winter sky, signalling a time of reflection, remembrance, and new beginnings across Aotearoa New Zealand.

For healthcare workers here, the spirit of Matariki feels especially fitting. The work you do is deeply rooted in the same values this New Year period celebrates: caring for others, looking ahead, and contributing to something greater than yourself.

If a fresh start in New Zealand has been on your mind - whether for the lifestyle, career opportunities, or simply the chance to begin a new chapter - we hope this Matariki New Year inspires you to take that first step!

Our team will be offline on Friday 10 July to mark the public holiday with family and friends. Message us over the weekend and we will be back in touch from Monday 13 July.

Important Update for Healthcare Workers: Changes from 1 June 2026

If you're a healthcare professional planning to work in New Zealand, today's government announcement may affect you.

From 1 June 2026, English language requirements are being extended to skill level 3 roles under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV). Many healthcare support and technical roles such as phlebotomists, medical laboratory assistants, and healthcare assistants sit at this level.

The good news? The standard required is basic, everyday English for common situations, not an advanced or clinical level. You can demonstrate this through:

An accepted English language test, or
Your citizenship, previous work, or study in an English-speaking country

If your visa expires on or before 1 December 2026, there may be an exemption available. Immigration NZ will be in touch with those who qualify.
