Today we (well me!) successfully negotiated our first landing fee!
I'm sure there must be other names for it like:

Sign on bonus
WOWZER first pay packet
Cash is King
OMG I'm special
drinks are on me!

What's a landing fee?

It's a cash bonus on top of your salary and commission that will be added to your first pay as a little thank you for joining us and recognition of your success in recruitment.

I'm sitting at my desk in my activewear with the addition of pink fluffy slippers staring at the abyss of jobs to fill.
My nikes are somewhere under my desk staring hopelessly at 3 unmatched dirty sports socks, while my spin bike sits patiently behind me and my treadmill looks wistfully out the window and the dogs are scratching to go out.

I need to set up for a zoom call, but my hair is array and I actually put mascara on yesterday which is smudged grey under my eyes.

Oh the joy and charms of lockdown, wfh and how many days to Christmas?!

I don't have time to write job adds, my phone won't stop ringing from looking for in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

Food for thought.
I don't think employers have ever respected so much as they do now.

We've gone from floating CV's and chasing client feedback to receiving calls from companies wanting to work with us.

Recruiters have never had so many jobs to fill with so little candidates.

With our skills of investigative research, resilience and the drive to succeed that we used to apply to hunting for clients and jobs; we now use to hunt, entice and seduce candidates.

No doubt you recruiters have the most jobs and clients you've ever had to deal with.

Now you have to manage the job flow.

Which roles you can fill, which clients to put first, who pays you the most, who pays their recruitment invoices and who respects you as a recruiter and who partners with you.

Who is going to still use you as a recruiter once the borders open and the Tsunami of candidates arrive on our shores of New Zealand.

Are you going to work with the clients that respect what you do, or the ones that lowball you, who want a huge discount and are working with everyone else?

I've never been so shocked, well absolutely astounded to be honest.

I nearly fell off my chair and I had to ask the recruiter to repeat their answer when I asked what they were earning annually.

This recruiter earned 3 times their salary in comms PLUS their salary on top.

You do the calculations.

Now I'm replacing her because she's leaving the industry.

Located in Wellington, you'll take over the most lucrative hybrid desk in Business Support in the country.

You'll inherit a book of contractors - predominantly AOG as well as a hot client list of perm work.

Yeah, yeah, not for the faint hearted, because along with the success there's a sh*tload of work behind it.
