Accounting saw a small -1.3% m/m decline in September - a movement that is largely seasonal and consistent with typical spring hiring patterns. In the CA sector specifically, demand traditionally accelerates sharply from mid January and early February through May, when firms ramp up recruitment ahead of peak workflow periods and annual planning cycles.
With this seasonal trend in play, demand for accounting talent in the CA sector is expected to rise significantly in early 2027.
Despite the modest monthly dip, CA firms continue to signal strong interest in experienced senior accountants, managers, senior managers and associate directors particularly those able to support advisory growth, client management, and expanding BAS workloads.
Weโve also seen a noticeable lift in successionโbased opportunities across our consultancy over the past six months. This trend is set to accelerate in 2027 and beyond, with many senior partners signalling their intention to exit in the short to medium term.
