Akaroa Resource Collective Trust (ARCT) provides, promotes and supports charitable services that benefit the Akaroa community and surrounding areas. ARCT provides a safe, confidential central drop in space, and facilitates social related services in a holistic way across the community. Due to its small size and unique community contacts ARCT has the capacity to organically adapt and change to meet the evolving needs of the community. ARCT is spiritually symbolised by an ARK or waka. A supportive structure sailing safely over the currents of life. A place of protection, but also a place to connect with others, learn effective team work and new life skills to increase quality of life. Heartland Services

SEEKING CONSTRUCTIVE, POLITE AND HELPFUL 😉
COMMUNITY FEEDBACK 🙏 Orion is seeking feedback from customers to help inform how it prioritises future investment relating to power outages. In particular, the research aims to better understand the real-world impact of both planned and unplanned outages on individuals, households, community services and businesses.

As part of this, they are hoping to hear from a broad cross-section of the Banks Peninsula community, including people and organisations for whom a power outage could have a particularly significant impact. This includes those experiencing health or financial vulnerabilities, first responders and community organisations, families with young children, and businesses whose ability to operate may be seriously affected by an outage.

SHARE YOUR HELPFUL THOUGHTS 😉🙏

Would you be interested in attending a Mental Health First Aid course here in Akaroa?

Akaroa Resource Collective Trust @ Heartlands is exploring the possibility of bringing a St John Mental Health First Aid course to our community, and we would love to gauge interest from local service providers, schools, preschools, health professionals and community organisations.

We all encounter people experiencing mental distress, whether through our professional roles or in everyday life. Having the knowledge and confidence to recognise when someone may be struggling and knowing how to respond can make a real difference.

What does the course cover?

Recognising the signs of mental distress, including crisis situations.

Learning practical skills to provide initial support.

Knowing how to guide someone towards appropriate professional help.

Building confidence through discussions and real-life scenarios.

Developing tools to support your own mental wellbeing.

Participants receive a Mental Health First Aid certificate valid for two years upon completion.

Course cost: TBC

At this stage, we are simply gathering expressions of interest to determine whether there is sufficient demand to bring this valuable training to Akaroa.

If you or anyone you know are interested. Please email: [email protected]

There is no commitment at this stage.
