We visited the icebreaker Varma and spoke with the Chief Officer about a recent rescue operation in the Baltic Sea.
A reminder of what this profession is really about: responsibility, teamwork, and staying calm when it matters most.

Icebreaker Varma is owned and operated by LVR Flote, responsible for icebreaking operations in the Gulf of Riga. Atlas NextWave supported this operation as LVR Flote’s crewing partner.

In Paramaribo, we brought Suriname’s energy ecosystem together to focus on what truly matters: preparing local professionals to meet international offshore standards.

The presence of the Vice President underscored how critical workforce readiness and local content have become for the country’s offshore ambitions.

But what stood out most? The next generation. Motivated. Curious. Ready.

Through our Greenhands Offshore programme, we are not just talking about opportunity, we are preparing people to work safely and competently offshore. This is local content moving from policy to ex*****on.

Recruitment Fraud Alert: Protecting Seafarers from Scams

Unauthorised individuals are impersonating Atlas NextWave representatives, contacting seafarers via WhatsApp, email, phone and other channels with false job opportunities. In some cases, they even pretend to conduct job interviews before demanding money for recruitment, training, medical tests, visa processing, or other so-called services. These people are not connected to Atlas NextWave.

To be clear, Atlas NextWave does not make unsolicited job offers. We will never ask candidates to pay for recruitment, training, medicals, visas or any other services. We only contact seafarers who have applied through our official channels. And finally, our official domain is, emails from any other domain are not genuine.
