Exhibition on the influence of the environment on the creative gesture
"Here and There" is not just a geographical distinction. It is a visual dialogue between two worlds, two rhythms of life and two completely different states of mind.
This exhibition presents my works created in two radically different environments – the Netherlands and Bulgaria. The project explores how the space around us dictates the direction of thought, the choice of materials and the final vision of the work.
The two faces of the exhibition:
There (Netherlands): The works born in the Dutch context bear the imprint of modernity, of experimentation and the specific northern light and bright colors. The expressive means are influenced by the dynamics of a highly technological and conceptual environment, as well as by the "shiny packaging" of contemporary art.
Here (Bulgaria): The works created in a local context are saturated with a different and deep emotional density. These are graphics that chose to be organic, raw and direct. Created with a completely intuitive approach and the specific "spirit of the place" that grounds me.
Welcome to two of my worlds at the same time, completely different from each other.

Единственият, смислен начин да опознаеш някого е да общуваш с него, да надникнеш в душата му и да наблюдаваш действията и творенията му. Да четеш статусите и да гледаш изображенията в социалната мрежа - те могат да бъдат добре подредени имиджи и внимателно подбрани думи, емоционално подбудени изказвания и реакции, но остават само опаковка, която съзнателно или не, е там за пред общи, повърхностни идеали и цели и разбирания.
На 24-ти април ще споделя в галерия "Мария Луиза" в Пловдив това, което умея най-добре. Творби от последните две и малко повече години, вдъхновени от живота ми в Ротердам, както и графики, по които работя последните няколко месеца.
Очаквам ви в един от най-приятните, пролетни дни на годината!

These days I have time to work on a personal project. This is the back of my hoodie, which I almost finished. Next comes the front and sleeves. I use several techniques. First, I apply a bleach solution to describe the initial shape and after it is completely dry, I apply a white acrylic solution. It happens slowly, with repeated applications of both types of solution. The white acrylic dries with warm air after each application, before the next layer of paint. This way I avoid unnecessary accumulation of acrylic, which on fabric has a risk of cracking and forming an excessive layer, which after time crumbles. After the entire process is completed, the hoodie will be washed at 30° in a washing machine to soften the feeling of roughness and to fix it. For those in the know - acrylic behaves like the plastisol used in screen printing.
I will soon publish the complete result of my work.

Here are the two walls we painted this past weekend. The inspiration for my artwork - "the three Mummers (Kukeri)" - comes from a photo by photographer Ivo Danchev.
