quality cuisine? Hotel Sanders De Paauw in Sluis is looking for a dedicated and

motivated **Independent Chef / Sous Chef** who is ready to take on a
responsible and varied role in our open kitchen. You’ll be the right hand of the
head chef—and the leader in their absence.
Your Role
As Sous Chef / Independent Chef, you’ll play a key role in the daily operations of
our kitchen. You ensure smooth service and consistently deliver dishes that
surprise and delight our guests.
Your responsibilities include:
* Preparing and executing lunch and dinner services.
* Leading the kitchen team in the absence of the head chef.
* Checking and placing orders.
* Ensuring compliance with HACCP food safety standards.
* Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and cold storage.
* Contributing ideas for new dishes and continuous improvement.
Team & Leadership
* Supporting the head chef in managing a kitchen team of 4–5 people.
* Actively contributing to team motivation and professional development.
* Assisting with the onboarding of new team members to ensure a smooth
start.
Guest Experience & Teamwork
* Helping to create a guest-focused work environment with high service
standards.
* Working in an open kitchen, with direct interaction with guests.
* Acting as a key communication link between the kitchen and front-of-house
team.
Who Are You?
* You have experience as a chef and are ready for the next step in your career.
* You are independent, stress-resistant, and flexible.
* You have a strong affinity with French cuisine.
* You pay attention to detail and work with precision.
* You enjoy working in an open kitchen setting.
* You speak English (Dutch is a plus).
* You’re a team player who can also work independently when needed.
