Did you know that, according to Herbert Heinrich’s theory, approximately 30,000 unsafe acts and conditions precede a single fatal accident? This highlights the importance of taking even small risks seriously.

That’s why my tip for this month is:
👉 If you see something unsafe, report it!

By identifying risks at an early stage and taking appropriate measures, we can prevent accidents and injuries. With summer approaching and holiday periods just around the corner, it is especially important to stay focused and alert.

Last Sunday, we swapped our desks for running shoes during our home race: the Meppel Cityrun!

The 4-mile course took us right through the city center of Meppel, along busy streets filled with enthusiastic spectators. The warm conditions made it an extra challenge, but luckily many residents had already brought out their garden sprinklers and hoses. The refreshing water and the continuous support along the route helped us all cross the finish line with great times.

A big thank you to the organizers for another well-run and successful edition, to our colleagues for their effort, and to everyone who cheered us on along the way!

Especially when it comes to tasks you’ve done many times before, that’s where risks can easily be overlooked. “Just a quick job” often leads to reduced awareness and missing important hazards.

That’s why my tip for this month is:
👉 Always take a moment before you start (LMRA – Last Minute Risk Assessment)

Take a good look around, think about the risks and make sure you are using the correct tools and personal protective equipment.

Just a few seconds of conscious attention can prevent an accident.
