Getting a job post 50 needs patience, flexibilty and a while new range of skills that never used to be required.

It's no joke finding the opportunities, convincing hiring managers that you are not too experienced or nailing down terms when the average hiring manager was not born when you joined the workforce.

In the coming weeks, I will be posting some new self guided steps to take in your search.

Here's a few things to think about.

* Treat finding a job like your day job.
* You don't need to have 100% success rate, you just need to be successful once.
* You are not your job.
* Some industries, company cultures and professions value experience, some simply do not.
* Everything you say and do is public. Think like a millenial and curate your life to present the very best you until you land your job.

I find it funny that it target 'actieve plussers'. I guess that non active plussers are ... dead?

The event targets the silver pound - assuming that 50+ people all have disposable cash once again as we become empty nesters.

That would be true, if we all had jobs and I see nothing in this beurs for recruitment - shame.

It's official. There's almost no 50+ workers changing jobs voluntarily

Sinds 2008 zijn er niet zoveel mensen van baan gewisseld als nu. Het switchen van werk gebeurt echter voor het grootste gedeelte onder mensen jonger dan vijftig. Waarom wisselen zo weinig 50-plussers van baan?

The New Year is the perfect time to be looking for a new job. Everyone who was unhappy in their old job either made or did not their last year target, so have no risk if they leave in January, and the festive period always makes people think about whether they are really happy in what they are doing.

So watch out 50+ ers. There will be plenty of opportunities come the New Year. Experience will count because employers increasingly look for commitment - and they can be sure the more mature candidates will be more committed.

We will be developing this platform more creatively and proactively as well in the coming year.

Nederlanders worden steeds ouder en ons land vergrijst. Hierdoor zal in 2019 maar liefst de helft van de Nederlanders 55-plus zijn. We moeten tegenwoordig langer doorwerken en het is voor organisaties dan ook van groot belang de kwaliteiten van alle generaties te benutten. Maar hoewel ouder worden een schat aan levenservaring oplevert, worden oudere werknemers dikwijls nog gezien als een last. Het goud van de 55-plusser beschrijft de seizoenen van het leven en biedt handvatten en praktische tips om de kennis en ervaring van 55-plussers aan te boren. Dit 'goud' vormt het kapitaal van onze generatie, die een leven lang geleerd heeft.
