Job Title- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer

Objective
The HSE Officer will ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in mining operations, minimizing risks to personnel, property, and the environment while promoting a safety-first culture within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs in line with local regulations and industry standards
Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions
Ensure compliance with occupational health standards, including noise, air quality, and hazardous material exposure limits
Oversee waste management, water usage, and pollution control processes.
Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures
Maintain comprehensive records of safety inspections, audits, training, and incidents
Prepare periodic HSE performance reports for internal and external stakeholders
Develop and deliver HSE training programs to employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
Stay updated on relevant HSE laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
Serve as the point of contact for regulatory inspections and audits.
Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including drills and simulations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Certification in HSE management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) is an advantage.
Minimum of 5 years experience in HSE roles within the mining or heavy industry sector.
Strong knowledge of mining operations, risk management, and local HSE regulations.
Skills and Competencies
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to engage with teams
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suites
Proficiency in using HSE management software and tools.
Ability to work independently and in high-pressure environments.
