BEFORE POLITICS, WE ARE IKOYI INDIGENES: OLORI ODO OF IKOYI URGES UNITY AND PEACE AHEAD OF AUGUST 15 POLL

As the Osun State Governorship Election approaches on Saturday, 15th August 2026, the Office of the Youth Leader (Olori Odo) of Ikoyi Kingdom, led by Chief Orolade Waliyullah Abiodun, urged all citizens of Ikoyi to shun all forms of violence, intimidation, hate speech and electoral misconduct. Election is not a war, and no political ambition is worth the peace, unity and future of our community. Remember we are indigenes of Ikoyi before associating ourselves with any political parties.

We encourage every eligible voter to come out peacefully, exercise their civic responsibility and cast their vote according to their conscience. Let us respect one another, obey the rules that guide the electoral process, and allow every citizen to participate freely without fear or intimidation. Ikoyi is known for peace, and let's continue to uphold the good name we are known for.

Ikoyi belongs to all of us. Let us protect our community, uphold peace and demonstrate responsible citizenship before, during and after the election. Our vote is our voice, let us use it peacefully to shape the future we desire. May the best candidate whose administration will favour the masses emerge.

HONOUR WELL DESERVED: OLORI ODO CELEBRATES OLUKOYI ON AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FROM UNIVERSITY OF ILESA LAW STUDENTS

The Office of the Youth Leader (Olori Odo) of Ikoyi Kingdom heartily congratulates His Royal Majesty, Oba Iyiola Taofeek Akande Morenigbade (Oyeboade I), the Olukoyi of Ikoyi Kingdom, on his well-deserved Award of Excellence presented by the Law Students' Association of the University of Ilesa, Osun State.

Receiving the award on behalf of the revered monarch earlier today, the Olori Odo of Ikoyi Kingdom, Chief Orolade Ibidola Abiodun, expressed profound appreciation to the association for finding the royal father worthy of such a prestigious honour.

He described Oba Iyiola as an exceptional monarch, a compassionate humanitarian, and a visionary leader whose commitment to the growth and development of Ikoyi Kingdom and humanity remains unwavering. According to him, the royal father has consistently devoted himself to initiatives that uplift lives, promote peace, and inspire progressive transformation within and beyond the community.

OLORI-ODO OF IKOYI APPEALS TO IKOYI YOUTH ON PEACEFUL POLITICAL PARTICIPATION AMIDST RAMPANT POLITICAL VIOLENCE IN THE STATE

Wednesday 24th June, 2026.....

The Office of the Youth Leader (Olori Odo) of Ikoyi Kingdom led by Chief Orolade Ibidola Abiodun hereby appeals to all sons and daughters of Ikoyi, particularly the youths, to shun every form of politics of bitterness, hatred, and violence as the election is fast approaching.

Chief Orolade revealed that while political participation remains a civic responsibility, it must never become a reason to harm one another. Killing, causing injury, or engaging in any act capable of disrupting the peace of our community is unacceptable. We urge our youths not to allow themselves to be used as instruments for the personal interests of politicians who may seek to achieve their ambitions through violence and conflict.

Ikoyi has, over the years, been recognised as a peaceful community with a strong culture of unity and harmony. We must ensure that this peaceful identity continues to reflect in our political activities, especially as we approach the election period-He affirmed.

Olori Odo further stressed that violent actions do not bring progress, rather, they affect economic activities, discourage development, and create setbacks in the growth of our community. No big community but the efforts of the sons and daughters of a community make it big. The future of Ikoyi belongs to all of us, and we must protect it together.

He therefore called on every youth, irrespective of political affiliation, to embrace tolerance, wisdom, and diplomacy in their political engagements. Let us continue to be our brothers’ keepers and uphold the values that bind us together.

May unity and peace continue to exist among us before, during, and after the elections. May peace continue to reign in Ikoyi Kingdom and our land

IKOYI YOUTHS CELEBRATE OLUKOYI OVER INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION BY CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE

The Office of the Youth Leader (Olori Odo) of Ikoyi Kingdom, under the leadership of Chief Orolade Ibidola Abiodun, heartily felicitates with H.R.M. Oba Iyiola Taofeek Akande Morenigbade (Oyeboade I), the Olukoyi of Ikoyi Kingdom, on his well-deserved international recognition by the California State Assembly, particularly the 65th District, alongside African Focus Inc. and the African Family Inductees.

This prestigious recognition followed Kabiyesi’s recent historic visit to Los Angeles, California, where he served as a special guest and officiating traditional ruler during the just-concluded African Focus Inc. programme. The honour reflects his invaluable contributions towards promoting African cultural heritage and preserving traditional values on the global stage.

As a revered Royal Father, we deeply appreciate, recognize, and commend your unwavering commitment to preserving and projecting our cultural heritage globally while continuously fostering peace, unity, and development among our people. Your dedication to humanity and selfless service remains a source of pride and inspiration to the people of Ikoyi Kingdom, especially the youths.

As service to humanity remains one of the highest responsibilities entrusted to leadership, we encourage Your Royal Majesty not to relent in your commitment to serving mankind and uplifting society through impactful leadership and compassion.

Once again, we congratulate our Royal Father on this laudable achievement and pray that Almighty God will continue to strengthen, guide, and uphold you for the continued benefit of humanity.

DEAR IKOYI, KNOW YOUR WORTH!!!

Ikoyi cannot be compared to other communities that merely bought their crowns from the market. To place your purchased crown beside Ikoyi’s ancient, consecrated one is not humility, it is self-harm.

You cannot compare a new machete to an ancestral blade that has tasted blood for centuries, lest you embarrass yourself.

A man who buys a new agbada does not compare it to a family robe passed down through generations; he wears his with pride because he knows the difference.

Ikoyi’s crown was consecrated before the first stone of many of your towns was ever laid. We carry OLUGBON, ARESA, OWA ORANGUN—not as mere titles, but as ancient bloodlines forged in war and covenants.

Yesterday 26th April, 2026, I was at the 20th Annual Goodwill Awards & African Ancestry Family Induction Ceremony held at THE RENAISSANCE HOTEL AND RESORT LOS ANGELES as the officiating king to honour the invitation of the African Focuz Inc where Africans who recently traced their sources of origin to different African countries were inducted back to the African continent.

First, I charged the newly inductees to see Africa not as a distant museum of their past, but as living, breathing home and the source of their identity. Hence, make Africa their reference point and as well make African values shape your decisions.

Moreso, I charged them to become bold, joyful, and unapologetic ambassadors of African cultural heritage and traditions. They should speak their mother tongue to their children until they dream in it. Wear the native dresses until they emulate it. Eat our local foods and even share them with their European friends.

Furthermore, I charged the inductees to show fierce, active, and unbroken love to fellow Africans especially in the face of discrimination and racist abuse that many of us still endure across other continents. They should promote the spirit of oneness, progress, and togetherness wherever they meet other Africans.

Finally, I urged the inductees to find deliberate, consistent ways to keep visiting their ancestral homes to reconnect and reacquaint themselves with this land of wonders.

I appreciate the organisers of the programme for counting me worthy to speak before the people on behalf of the crowned monarchs and the entire good people of African continent.

Kingship is a natural call to mankind.
