📍 Location: Remote (Africa / UK-friendly time zones)
🕒 Employment Type: Full-time
Our client is an AI-powered credit scoring platform reshaping how repayment risk is assessed in emerging markets. We work with lenders to deliver real-time, data-driven insights — while giving individuals more transparency into how credit decisions are made.
At the core of this mission is our behavioral risk engine — transforming real user activity into meaningful signals for fairer, more accurate credit decisions.
The role
We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to help build and scale the systems that ingest, process, and expose behavioral data for credit risk analysis. You’ll work closely with data science and product teams to design reliable, secure, and scalable backend infrastructure built for real-world financial use cases.
What you’ll do
• Design and maintain backend services for behavioral event data
• Build and support feature pipelines for credit risk models
• Develop secure, well-documented APIs
• Ensure data quality, traceability, and system consistency
• Collaborate with data science teams on model deployment and iteration
• Improve system performance, reliability, and scalability
What we’re looking for
• Strong backend experience (Python preferred; Go or Java welcome)
• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and relational databases
• Experience with event-driven or asynchronous systems
• RESTful API design best practices
• Experience with AWS or GCP
• Strong attention to data accuracy, security, and reliability
Why join
You’ll be building meaningful technology that directly impacts access to credit, financial inclusion, and economic opportunity — in a collaborative, learning-focused environment.
