Let’s honour the spirit of hard work and perseverance.

Work is not just about clocking hours but evolving through challenges.

People have been killing each other since time immemorial, backed up by Dan and Ariel Duran’s research in their books, “The Lessons of History” and “The Story of Civilisation.” We humans are so quarrelsome that we have killed off all our cousins of the Homo genus; the last of our cousins was homo neanderthalensis, killed off almost 40,000 years ago by Homo Sapiens.

Scientists theorised that 99% of all species living on Earth had gone extinct. Most of the extinction is caused by us humans.

The killing didn’t stop after all our cousins were gone. We started killing each other over what some “holy texts” said more than a millennium ago. As scientific researchers, isn’t the recency of written text important, and should not be older than five years? Why do we trust the unsubstantiated words written so long ago when they don’t even have a piece of paper to write on, let alone type on a PC or Tablet (not the stone version) or phone like I am doing now?

If those saviours can’t even save themselves then, how can they save you and me today? Our average lifespan has increased by almost 100% from 48 to 82 years from just a century ago and nearly 300% since those holy texts were written. I can’t believe some people would like to live like their ancestors without our modern amenities, such as current modes of transportation, phones, television, medical treatments, etcetera. Your ancestors will be more than happy to trade places with you, even the Pharaohs.

Humans fight so much due to their quest for self-preservation and communal scarcity mindset. They will continue to blame each other regardless of the veracity of their story. Each will cheer for their team and boo the other. It’s all a game of survival and economics.

A cohort asked what is the next skill to learn. Perhaps we must first unlearn our propensity to fool ourselves—“Ka Ki Peean Ka Ki or ownself fools ownself” in the colloquial slang and sense.

I better mind my own business. Salman Rushdie got blinded by an assassin just for stating the obvious. He should probably write his autobiography “Almost be murdered he wrote.” The written word ✒️ is dangerous as it has gotten millions killed and maimed.

Aren’t we humans a silly lot❓
