Yesterday marked the 100th day since our beloved mother-in-law, Sifu, passed away. To honor her memory, we brought our signature French Butter Orange Cake Loaf to the prayers. This cake was one of her favorites, especially with her favourite coffee.

During her final battle with cancer, she could barely eat, and I felt so helpless. In my sadness, I baked her favorite cake, hoping it might bring some comfort. With tears in my eyes, I watched as she nodded wanted to taste our cake and managed to take a tiny bite, despite her struggle to eat anything else.

Regrettably, this year we won't be able to take orders for our Hokkien Bak Chang due to our focus on the French Butter Orange Cake subscription plan, which is essential for our income sustainability at Luvatte Patisserie. We hope that in the future, with more resources and manpower, we can bring back our Hokkien Bak Chang and other cherished recipes from our mother-in-law, Sifu.

Happy Winter Solstice!

Initially I wanna have just 2 biji but my mum suggest to have 3 biji meaning "sang sang mang mang" aka healthy & lively.. then darling girl asked how many she should have? She dont wanna have just 2 biji.. I say since she will be turning 13 years old next year then maybe 13 biji, 1 biji for 1 years old 😂 She beamed and say her favourite number is 13 😜 After having 13 biji "thong yuen", later on the way back stop by a stall by the roadside.. she is more excited to have a stick of jelly ball which she has been requested since last week as mama would usually forbid due to much artificial colourings and flavourings 😅

Our Hokkien bakchang are freshly made to order day before, hang to dry before delivery/collection next day. You can consume straight on delivery/collection day or heat them up by steaming for 5 mins before serve.
Keep in fridge on collection/delivery day if didn't consume, up to 3 days in fridge, steam for 5 mins before serve.
Keep in freezer up to 2 weeks, steam for 15 mins before serve.

Planting greens in our own yard has a kind of magic. The process of cultivating them, plucking the leaves, and meticulously transforming them into cherished traditional delicacies feels like something enchanted. Undoubtedly, this endeavor demands hard work, but isn't that how important things happen in life? Maybe only a lucky few get things easily. For many of us, we have to rely on our hands, stand on our feet, and work hard tirelessly forging a path toward a promising future.

Raised in a modest family, I grasped the importance of industriousness early on. Every aspiration required a step-by-step march toward achievement. Amidst this journey, however, I found myself adrift. My identity slipped away as I transitioned into the roles of a spouse and a parent. It's simple to advocate for preserving one's sense of self and self-love, yet in reality, it's far more complicated especially for me..

Some say life begins at 40 or 50. I'm indeed grateful that through my experience and life journey, I am gradually becoming wiser and slowly gaining more confidence as I try to find myself again. I'm often questioned why I like to do complicated and demanding tasks. These traditional delicacies bear profound significance for me. They serve as a tribute to my esteemed mother-in-law, my sifu whose legacy I’m honoured to perpetuate, sharing her treasured heirloom recipes with others is an act of both continuity and generosity.

The process of crafting delectable dishes brings me immense joy. I take great pleasure in crafting delicious food that not only brings happiness but also spreads love, kindness, and good wishes to each and every family member.

📢🎉 Exciting Announcement! 🎉📢
Hey there, wonderful friends and food enthusiasts! We've got some thrilling news to share with all of you. 🍰🥳
We must admit, we're totally addicted to the art of baking, cooking and kuih making and we couldn't resist trying something new today! We whipped up some delicious kuih again, as you know we dont use colouring in all our bakes/kuih so this time, we decided to add a twist by throwing in some beetroot in our sweet potato kuih skin. The result was absolutely stunning - a mesmerizing dusky pink color, making it a perfect fit for a Barbie dream theme! 💖
But that's not all! I've also discovered the ultimate baking partner in crime, none other than the amazing Angela Tan, my beloved sister-in-law. Together, we embark on thrilling baking experiments, even in the wee hours, despite our exhaustion. Angela's enthusiasm matches mine, and we both dance with joy whenever we achieve an improved version of our creations. It's such a blessing to have found someone who shares the same passion for culinary adventures!
We also want to extend a heartfelt shout-out to Jane Su from Lace that cookie! Although we've known each other only through Facebook postings for years, we had the pleasure of meeting her in person recently when she supported . Jane became an instant fan of our macarons then when we saw her post about her delicate hand-piped sugar cookies comeback, we asked if she is interested to share the booth with us. She said YES immediately so we braved our first pop-up event together, and thanks to the overwhelming response from everyone, we managed to break even for our first pop up booth!
You, our incredible friends, customers, and newfound supporters, made it all possible. Your love and positivity have given us the confidence to step forward and now, we're thrilled to announce that moving forward, we'll be taking up one entire booth for both our and brand in upcoming pop-up bazaars!
But that's not the end of it! We're determined to keep delighting your taste buds, and we're working hard to bring you more delectable creations. Stay tuned for exciting gift packages for full moon celebrations as well as corporate orders!
