Congratulations to our future culinary stars aboard Queen Victoria! 👨‍🍳

We're delighted to celebrate a fantastic achievement from our galley team, where a group of Junior Commis de Cuisine chefs successfully completed their seven-day Main Galley and Pastry Training programme.

Every chef passed both their practical and theoretical assessments, showing incredible dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment throughout the training.

Each participant has now received a Certificate of Completion and qualified for a permanent position onboard the Cunard fleet. 🚢

We're so proud of everything they have achieved and can't wait to see them continue to grow and thrive in their careers with Cunard.

🚢 From family cruises to the bridge of a Cunard ship.

When Amanda was growing up, she loved travelling the world on cruises with her parents.

She never really thought about who was driving the ship until a chance conversation with a crew member onboard sparked her interest in a career at sea. After speaking with several officers onboard, she was inspired to pursue a career in the deck department.

After qualifying as a Deck Cadet in 2022, Amanda is now a Third Officer, helping to navigate the ship and support its safe operation while at sea.

We're incredibly proud of everything Amanda has achieved so far. Her journey shows how a simple conversation can lead to an exciting and rewarding career, and we're excited to see what the future holds as she continues to develop at Carnival UK.⭐

We were delighted to welcome nine young adults from The King's Trust aboard Queen Mary 2 for a special World of Work Day.

The group took part in a careers session with colleagues from across Cunard, learning about careers at sea, our brand, the benefits of working onboard, career development opportunities, and receiving valuable advice on CV writing, applications and using AI effectively during the job search process.

One of the highlights of the day was a series of reverse interviews, giving participants the opportunity to put their questions directly to colleagues from our Fleet Recruitment and Shoreside Recruitment teams, Customer Contact Centre, and Deck and Engineering Cadets.

The experience was rounded off with a tour of the ship and a buffet lunch onboard, giving everyone a taste of life at sea and the many opportunities available within Cunard.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. We're proud to support initiatives like these, helping young people build confidence, develop employability skills and explore future career opportunities.

In this clip from the latest Crew Conversations Podcast, Deck Cadet Brandon and Third Officer Amanda share the biggest surprise they experienced when they first stepped onboard.

The answer? 🚢 All the buttons on the bridge.

What initially seemed overwhelming has become a source of pride, as both reflect on the journey from learning the basics to confidently understanding and operating the equipment themselves.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Director Alexandra has a very different take... she'd quite like to press some of those buttons too, although she's not entirely convinced she'd be allowed!
