Dear friends,

On 15 Nov, Scrum Mastery Community will showcase our learning backlog for 2022, including topics such as "Organizational Transformation", "Design an online collaborative Agile Game", "Facilitation Techniques", "How to measure progress in Agile" and "Stoicism".

Our Product Owner, Adrian Neo, will also share two more Scrum Patterns, "Stable Teams" and "Emergency Procedure". Team Building is an expensive activity; however, an organization could never thrive without good stable teams. It is also essential for any stable team to have a set of emergency procedures that help them manage any unforeseen challenges or changes.

Scrum@Scale (the brainchild of Dr Jeff Sutherland, Inventor of Scrum) is a relatively new Agile Scaling framework to many people in ASEAN. I find Scrum@Scale an elegant framework that is very adaptive and allows Agile practitioners to configure and scale Scrum in an organic and modular fashion, which reminds me of playing with Lego bricks.

Like Scrum, Scrum@Scale helps people meeting business outcome by enabling companies and organisations to:
(1) Prioritize limited resources and ability to focus
(2) Deliver high-quality, working product or services is the primary measure of progress
(3) Refactor organization, product and services so to respond to change fastScrum@Scale is designed to run with good Scrum.

When we run good Scrum, we can then scale Scrum with Scrum@Scale well. I remember this by heart,"Scrum well before Scaling".

Learn more about Scrum@Scale with Jeff Stuit, SF, CEC on 5 May 2021. Jeff is the Scrum Fellow of Scrum Inc and CEC/CTC of Scrum Alliance. Being the founder of Improvement School, he guides global enterprises to exploit the Agile fundamentals for building hyper-productive teams and delivering great products/services. 17 Representatives from Extreme Programming, SCRUM, DSDM, Adaptive Software Development, Crystal, Feature-Driven Development, Pragmatic Programming, and others sympathetic gathered to find common ground at The Lodge at Snowbird ski resort in the Wasatch mountains of Utah on 11-13 February 2001. Then Agile ‘Software Development’ Manifesto is born.

Alistair Cockburn was amazed about the outcome, "Speaking for myself, I am delighted by the final phrasing [of the Manifesto]. I was surprised that the others appeared equally delighted by the final phrasing. So we did agree on something substantive."

Agile ‘Software Development’ Manifesto is as follows:

We are uncovering better ways of developing
software by doing it and helping others do it.
Through this work we have come to value:

Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
Working software over comprehensive documentation
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
Responding to change over following a plan

That is, while there is value in the items on
the right, we value the items on the left more.
