Nextra

Nextra We focus on matching the expectations. In the work we do, the most important part is getting the expectations right – in both parts.

We’ll get to know every detail about what you search for before we give any offers. We find the right people for the right places. There’s no wrong skillset – there are only the wrong people being in the wrong environments. We get people in the companies they belong in.

79% of employees in Latvia are ❌dissatisfied with their workplace, and 4 out of 5 would not recommend it to others.
This is a serious problem for employers, because top talent pays attention to reviews of potential employers - making it increasingly difficult to attract them.

The 2️⃣ issue is "quiet quitting": if 8 out of 10 employees are not particularly happy at work, they are most likely not delivering 100% of their potential.

When we begin working with a company for which we will be sourcing talent, we always assess their strengths and weaknesses - so we know how to present them to top candidates. It's essential that there is a genuine match between the candidate and the company; otherwise the partnership won't last long, no matter how great both the company and the specialist may be.

Where is the line between what can be delegated and what must stay in-house? We were asked to share our expertise with the latest issue of iFiT business magazine - and we did.

Evija Šalte, CEO of Nextra Latvia, reflects on what truly drives value when companies choose to outsource and where that line really is.

At Nextra, we've built our core competence around one thing: finding and placing top-tier executives and specialists for growing companies. We know the market, we know the people, and we know how to match the two.

Proud to be part of this conversation.

82% would choose a job with well-being programmes over a higher-paying offer without them.

This challenges a common assumption: while total compensation still ranks #1, employees place health and well-being as the second most important factor, followed by growth and development. Salary matters — but it is no longer the only driver.

Today, candidates evaluate the full picture: culture, environment, meaning, and long-term sustainability. At Nextra, we see this shift daily in executive search: the most successful hires happen when companies align not only on role and salary, but on expectations around well-being and long-term fit. And during the hiring process, it’s critical to remember, that it’s not just the company choosing the candidate, but the candidate also is choosing the employer.

Highlighting what truly matters to them can make the difference for both - the company, and the candidate.

Does having entrepreneurial experience make it harder to find a job? Indeed, former entrepreneurs often receive more rejections from potential employers.

Why? They are often perceived as people with a [too] high level of autonomy, used to making their own decisions and thinking strategically - rather than working within a clearly defined role or hierarchy.

So, should companies hire such candidates? To answer that, it’s important to understand why the person is choosing employment right now, what they expect from the role, and whether their motivation aligns with the company’s needs.

Is it worth the risk? Read more in the Evija's Šalte, Head of Nextra Latvia, interview for Delfi: https://www.delfi.lv/bizness/37264250/biznesa_vide/120108463/kapec-darba-deveji-piesardzigi-raugas-uz-bijusajiem-uznemejiem

Preparing for a job interview with the help of AI - is it your advantage or not?
In our work, we often notice that candidates prepare for interviews using AI, and it sometimes turns into a kind of competition - trying to extract the “truth” and genuine emotions from a real person in order to understand who our client will actually be working with.

Is it a plus if HR feels that you prepared for the meeting? Yes, because it demonstrates your interest and motivation to get a job. But there is a nuance: within polished, impersonal answers, you still need to demonstrate your individuality in order to stand out.

Advice from Evija Šalte, Head of Nextra:
✅ Learning more about the company and the role - yes.
✅ Preparing template-based, impersonal answers to interview questions - no.
✅ Don’t lose your individuality - that is your strength.

We’re proud to share that Evija Šalte, Head of Nextra Latvia and recognised HR expert, was featured in the latest issue of the business magazine iFit, discussing the proposed amendments to Latvia’s Labour Law regarding overtime compensation.

In the interview, Evija highlights:
📍 The opportunity: greater flexibility in salary structure, especially in industries with uneven workloads or project cycles
📍 The benefit for employees: higher base pay can provide more predictable and stable income
📍 The key risk: if overtime becomes a routine, it may lead to burnout and lower motivation

As Evija emphasizes, the real impact will depend on company culture, leadership maturity and responsible workforce planning.

This topic was discussed in the Latvijas Radio programme “Pievienotā vērtība”, where Evija Šalte, Head of Nextra Latvia, shared insights based on questionnaire.

As the data shows, for many people the New Year becomes a moment to reassess priorities, workload, motivation, and long-term career direction. Even if not everyone takes immediate action, a significant share of employees are actively exploring and evaluating new opportunities.

Evija Šalte, Head of Nextra Latvia, joined the BSMS podcast “Tirgziņu tērzes”. In the latest episode, you’ll learn:

• What is more valuable today than experience and education?
• How to “polish” your CV so it speaks like that of a senior-level professional — even if you still doubt yourself
• How long should you stay at one job for your CV to look strong rather than problematic? 1 year? 7 years?
• The 4 skills that will be vital in the coming years
• Why “the employee is king right now” — and what this means for employers and candidates
• Why employees today won’t tolerate an authoritarian management style — and what actually motivates them to stay or leave
• Why LinkedIn currently works more effectively than job portals, and how to position yourself there to attract higher-level offers and a +30% salary increase
If you’re considering a career change — or desperately trying to find a new colleague but something just isn’t working — this new podcast episode is definitely worth a listen: https://www.bsms.lv/podkasts/134ep-linkedin-ka-darba?fbclid=IwY2xjawO_NgNleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETA5TW90aGdnYXdmNlFDMXI3c3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHj6oC01C3YHeWpszT4TmQxigX0ZFg_KZATdMBG8E4dab41K7EbiPPxY02JX-_aem_WnXMZ4lC9uvg_5hg3Cj3Vg

6 out of 10 people in Latvia would like to change jobs in 2026. Why?
The three main reasons are:
💼 looking for a better work–life balance and less stress (24%)
💼a higher salary and greater financial stability (24%)
💼looking for a more flexible work model (remote work, hybrid, flexible working hours) (13%)

It’s obvious that people are tired of overload, “new challenges,” the constant need to be available, commuting to the office, rigid working hours, and instability.

Are employers ready for this?
