As the Minister with the youth portfolio, Hon. Pitso Lesaoana emphasised the importance of supporting local youth-owned businesses during his remarks at the UN Day Youth Festival.

Lesotho’s young people have ideas, ambition and a vision for their country! 🇱🇸🇺🇳

On this United Nations Day, we launched the first cohort of the newly established UN Youth Advisory Board at the UN Day Youth Festival.

The Board will bring the perspectives of young people into the UN’s programmes, helping ensure our work reflects their needs, priorities and aspirations. It will also strengthen dialogue between the UN and young people, creating space for their ideas to inform our work in Lesotho.

Congratulations to the first cohort! We look forward to working with you!

Learning about the UN, one challenge at a time! 🇱🇸🇺🇳🎉

Today young people put their knowledge to the test through quizzes and interactive sessions with UN agencies at the UN Day Youth Festival.

With questions to answer and challenges to take on, the UN Village made learning fun while introducing young people to the UN’s work alongside the Government and people of Lesotho.

Thank you to everyone who joined in and brought their curiosity and energy!

Yesterday, we launched UN Day celebrations alongside our partners, marking 60 years of Lesotho’s independence and six decades of partnership with the United Nations. 🇱🇸🇺🇳

The reception reaffirmed the value of multilateralism and international cooperation in advancing peace, sustainable development and human rights. Our shared challenges call for shared solutions, built through dialogue, solidarity and partnership.

Tomorrow, the focus turns to young people, their ideas, aspirations and role in shaping our collective future. Join us at the UN Day Youth Festival as we celebrate “He/She: Building Our Future Together.”

On 26 June 2026, we travelled to Ribaneng in Mafeteng for the second meeting of Lesotho's Project Board for the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) Supporting Community-driven Violence Reduction and Sustainable Peace in Lesotho Project.

Have a watch to hear from United Nations in Lesotho's Resident Coordinator, the Minister of Home Affairs and Police, and project staff members from UNDP, UN Women, and OHCHR as they reflect on the visit and the impact of PBF.

"The 48th Ordinary Session of the ACERWC comes at an important moment for children. Children are growing up in a world that is changing fast and our message today is simple: children’s rights must keep pace with that change, and they must do so for every child."
