Meet Saren Kheat, our Beverage Manager, where elegance meets innovation in every glass. 🍸
With over 14 years of experience across fine dining and luxury bars, Saren brings calm leadership, refined creativity, and a deep passion for service to his role. We sat down with him to learn more about the person behind the bar.

Q: What’s the first thing you do when you start your shift?
“I always begin by checking the day’s forecast and event flow. Then I walk through each bar to ensure everything is spotless and perfectly in place. Before service begins, I take a moment with the team for a quick handover and a few words of encouragement. That early connection sets the tone for the evening.”

Q: What’s your favorite part of working at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra?
“It’s the way two cultures blend, French sophistication and Cambodian warmth. There’s something unique about the atmosphere here. And the team truly cares. Everyone brings something different, but we work with one heart.”

Q: Any memorable moments with a guest?
“One evening, a couple was celebrating their anniversary and mentioned a rare Cambodian spirit they had once enjoyed. It was a small detail in conversation, but it stayed with me. We quietly sourced a bottle and surprised them later that night. Their reaction was unforgettable. Moments like that remind me how meaningful thoughtful service can be.”

Q: What’s one thing you love about your role?
“I love the balance. Designing drinks is creative, but there’s also strategy. Coaching the team, managing flow, anticipating needs. Helping the team grow and watching them step up, that’s the part that stays with me.”
