Nairobi, 29 September 2026 , FKE has called for inclusive, sustainable and adaptive social protection system that protects workers while supporting enterprise growth and economic resilience.

Speaking at the 2026 National Social Protection Conference at the Kenya School of Government, Ms. Jacqueline Mugo EBS, Executive Director & CEO emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between Government and employers in responding to emerging socio-economic and climate-related challenges.

Ms. Mugo highlighted three key areas for action: diversifying social protection financing, expanding coverage to informal workers through digital and flexible contribution mechanisms, and linking social protection with skills development and employment resilience.

This is the fourth Kenya Social Protection Conference, following previous editions in 2015, 2018 and 2023.

What happens when global leaders and thinkers come together to ask one fundamental question: Can industrialisation build the future we want?

That was the question at the heart of the launch of The Future of Industrialization: Rethinking Economic Development during UNGA week in New York.

The Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) Executive Director and CEO, Ms. Jacqueline Mugo, joined the high-level conversation, sharing perspectives on what it will take to build an industrial future that is productive, inclusive and sustainable.

Ms. Mugo highlighted the critical role of MSMEs in shaping industrial policy and global decision-making, noting that businesses of all sizes need a meaningful voice in the policies that affect them.

She also spoke about how competitiveness, decent work, decarbonisation and supply-chain resilience can reinforce one another when supported by predictable regulation, access to finance and infrastructure, skills development and meaningful social dialogue.

She emphasised that businesses are at the forefront of investing, creating jobs, adopting technologies and responding to new regulations. Their experience is therefore essential to bridging the gap between global ambition and economic reality.

The future of industrialisation must create opportunities for people, enterprises and economies to thrive.

Girls and Tech: Inspiring the Next Generation of STEM Leaders! 🚀

The FKE Girls & Tech Program did an outreach in Laikipia East last Saturday bringing together over 500 secondary school girls from different schools in the region for an inspiring conversation on STEM — and the opportunities waiting for them beyond the classroom.

We talked STEM, the gender gap, the stereotype that girls cannot pursue STEM, and most importantly, the wide range of STEM careers available to them—including the subjects they need to pursue their courses of choice.

FKE provided Two mentors, a Computer Scientist and an Analytical Chemist, who shared their career journeys, experiences and encouragement with the girls. The Chief Guest, Ms. Grace Kaome, FKE HR and Administration Manager, challenged the girls to dream big, take time to understand themselves and take action.

The girls also heard from representatives of GIZ, HELB and KUCCPS on empowerment, financing options and making informed choices when selecting their courses.

A big thank you to the Principal of Laikipia East Vocational and Technical Collage for partnering with FKE to bring these young minds together. 🌟
