This is what it costs you just to pay the salaries of Kenya's fat cats. And we have not even included about 36 types of allowances, per diems, etc..... for them and their families, wives and mistresses!
The cumulative actual figure in five years is Sh460 billions (when you add wastage and the stolen money by the same, the figure is more than 3 trillion shillings in five years.....think about it!)
But now they have increased your taxes so that they can even take more!!!

The constitution says that the Government (both national and counties) can only "impose charges for services". This means that the government CANNOT impose charges for things that it is not delivering.
Take the new housing tax, for instance. The government does not even have a national housing programme. This tax is utter theft and the people are dutifully obligated to reject it.

You know you are on your own when the President's sister receives a government tender specially set aside for poor and marginalised women.
You know you are on your own when the opposition chief joins the government eating table and gets his relatives and friends appointed into plum government positions.
You know you are on your own when Parliament becomes a department of the Executive.
You know you are on your own when more than half of your taxes are stolen; and then you are slapped with more taxes!

The Standard Newspaper started a very key discussion yesterday..... I hope they do not stop there.
They asked a question - How comes Roads in Kenya are now being built at the cost of 1 billion per Kilometer? They then gave comparison with Ethiopia and other African Countries, and showed that the amounts are far less than we are paying.
The Standard Group should not stop there......KTN, Radio Maisha etc should ask the same question. Why are we paying 1 billion per KM?
Then after that, they should ask - Why are we building 57 Dams NOW, at an average cost of 15 billion? Why? Why?
Then they should ask, why are we pouring billions in Galana Kulalu, only to come out with 10,000 bags? Why not take the Money to the North Rift?
Then they should ask- Why are we having all these Power Projects? Mara Turkana Wind, Mara Lamu Coal, Mara Garissa Solar, Mara Geo Thermal etc

To be sincere, if we are to be honest to each other this 3 trillion shilling budget is simply a scam created by brokers in power. I am 100 % sure that the we can do very well with less than 2 trillion shillings.
Since we have no one to speak for us, the best we can do is to have the media do what Standard did yesterday.
At least we can pay the heavy taxes, knowing who is eating....then one day, one day when the tide changes, they will be forced to return the loot.

Lest you forget, no one was taken to court for stealing money in NYS 1. They carried money in sacks. Now they have increased the taxes so that you can give them more. Resist! Hatulipi!
