Today, we welcomed a full house in Shinjuku, Tokyo for our carbon intelligence event, and the energy throughout the day was truly inspiring. The topic of carbon footprint drew remarkable interest, as reflected in the high number of attendees on site.

💡 The afternoon sessions featured a series of insightful presentations with Japanese companies sharing valuable field-based perspectives on carbon footprint strategies and third-party verification practices.

テュフズードは、糖尿病患者向けの運動療法支援アプリ（SaMD）を開発するfoo.log株式会社に、医療機器の品質マネジメントシステムに関する国際規格「ISO 13485」の認証を発行しました。

💡本認証は、「DASH for SaMD」戦略および「二段階承認制度」の導入を背景に、革新的なSaMDの社会実装を加速するものです。こうした環境下で、foo.log株式会社は医師の要望を受けて、糖尿病患者を対象とした運動療法支援アプリケーションの開発を進めています。同社は、治験段階から審査を開始できる柔軟な体制とスピード感を理由に、テュフズードを認証機関として選定しました。

🩺 TÜV SÜD issues ISO 13485 certification to foo.log Inc. ‒ Supporting the practical implementation of innovative SaMD
TÜV SÜD has issued ISO 13485 certification (an international standard for quality management systems for medical devices) to foo.log Inc., a company developing an innovative application (SaMD: Software as a Medical Device) to support exercise therapy for diabetes patients.

💡This certification was issued in the context of the Japanese government’s “DASH for SaMD” strategy and the introduction of the “Two-Stage Approval System,” which are accelerating the implementation of innovative SaMD in society. In response to requests from physicians, foo.log Inc. is currently developing an application to support exercise therapy for diabetes patients. The company selected TÜV SÜD as its certification body due to its flexible system that allows the review process to begin during the clinical trial phase, and its ability to provide a responsive and speedy review process.

🔧TÜV SÜD will continue to support the implementation of innovative technologies in the SaMD field, and aims to promote the use of safe and secure technologies in medical settings as well as improve patients’ quality of life.

🔧 Fostering young talent × the forefront of functional safety

TÜV SÜD Japan held a hybrid seminar on functional safety jointly with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation’s Nagoya Works with participants attending both on-site and online.
This seminar was aimed to foster basic knowledge and awareness of functional safety, which is a prerequisite for future product development and design work, mainly among young engineers from Mitsubishi Electric Corporation’s Nagoya Works, Industrial Mechatronics Systems Works, and affiliated companies. A total of more than 400 employees participated.

• Mr. Hiroo Kanamaru of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation’s Corporate Intellectual Property Division, Standardization Strategy Group gave an enthusiastic introduction to the latest trends in the international safety standard IEC 61508 Ed.3
• Yosh*toshi Fujiwara of TÜV SÜD Japan presented on AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) safety
• Takashi Matsumae of TÜV SÜD Japan shared insights on common misconceptions about functional safety certification

The presentations covered everything from the basics to the latest trends, and the event concluded with a lively question-and-answer session.

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is an international environmental label that discloses the environmental impact of products and services throughout their life cycle. They are based on Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and follow international standards such as ISO 14025 and ISO 21930. EPDs are becoming increasingly popular internationally, particularly in Europe, and are now mandatory in many sectors, especially construction.
