🔥 Visited FOOMA JAPAN 2026 🍱
TORCH members visited FOOMA JAPAN 2026, one of the largest exhibitions dedicated to food manufacturing equipment, systems, and solutions.
The second day of the exhibition was heavily affected by a typhoon, so many visitors may have decided to stay home. By the time we attended, the weather had improved, and the venue was already crowded shortly after opening.
It was a valuable opportunity not only to see how automation equipment and production technologies continue to evolve, but also to hear directly from exhibitors about the talent and skills they are looking for.
One thing we found particularly interesting was the relative absence of exhibits related to humanoid robotics, aside from a few concept demonstrations commonly seen at trade shows.
While Physical AI and humanoid robotics continue to attract significant attention, the technologies supporting our everyday food supply are often different. Across the exhibition floor, we saw established automation technologies and specialized solutions continuing to evolve and deliver value in real production environments.
There is no doubt that new robotics technologies, including Physical AI, will gradually find their place in this industry as well.
Yet what left the strongest impression on us was the value created by people, operational expertise, and decades of accumulated engineering expertise. These foundations continue to play a critical role in supporting the food manufacturing industry today.
The visit was a good reminder of how technology shapes and supports something we often take for granted: the food we rely on every day.
