The Trincomalee Town Storming Promotion carried out by LankaPay, together with several financial institutions, as part of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka’s ත්‍රිකුණාමලය regional digital payments initiative, was a great success, with close to 750 tourism sector merchants in the area being onboarded to LankaQR.

The campaign was conducted on 3rd and 4th June across Nilaveli, Uppuveli, Alles Garden, and Trincomalee, where teams engaged directly with merchants to demonstrate how digital payments can simplify day-to-day transactions while supporting business growth through greater payment convenience.

LankaPay was proud to be a part of ත්‍රිකුණාමලය , the regional digital payment promotion organized by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka on 5th and 6th June 2026 at the Trincomalee Central Bus Stand Car Park.

The two-day event was officially inaugurated by Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, and brought together key stakeholders from the financial sector, government institutions, and the armed forces in a collective effort to accelerate digital payment adoption across the region.

Through initiatives such as merchant engagement programmes, awareness campaigns, and digital payment demonstrations, the event highlighted the benefits of secure, convenient, and inclusive payment solutions, with a special focus on promoting LANKAQR.
