Hiring Indian seafarers for a foreign-flag vessel? One check now sits with your manning agent before anyone signs on.
Under DGMA Order 22 of 2026 (dated 28 August 2026), RPSL-licensed agencies must verify the vessel’s P&I or insurance cover, from an International Group club or a DGMA-approved insurer, before an Indian seafarer is engaged or deployed. They must also keep evidence of that check.
That’s slide 5. The rest of the carousel covers the manning around it:
→ A defined requirement: vessel type, flag, trade, ranks and joining window, agreed in writing
→ Reliefs and sign-on dates planned around the trading pattern
→ Vessel, principal and agent tracking the same crew changes
→ CDC, INDoS, CoC, STCW, medicals and passport verified against issuing records, not photocopies
