Kongai Thee, in the hands of the playwright Ee Paa, raises several uncomfortable questions.

Diving deep into the psychology of Kannagi, Kovalan and Madhavi, ‘Kongai Thee’ puts the spotlight on the oppressive nature of our gender power structure and the need, in today’s times, for a serious and critical examination of its consequences.

We’re delighted to share that Indira Parthasarathy's Kongai Thee will be performed on two consecutive days next weekend at:
• Bharat Nivas, Auroville, Pondicherry (29th Nov, Saturday)
• Bharata Kalakshetra, Chennai (30th Nov, Sunday)

If you haven’t caught the play yet, we’d love to see you at one of these shows. Ticket details are below.

As supporters of our work, you’ve always been a huge part of our journey. It’s been a privilege performing for a community that values the kind of theatre we strive to create—quality productions deeply rooted in Tamil literature.

We finished wonderful shows of our two plays - Sangeetha Payithiyam and Kongai Thee - on consecutive days in the Soorya Festival, Trivandrum.

Deep gratitude for the organisers - 'Soorya' Krishnamoorthy sir and his fantastic team for being such good hosts making us all feel at home.

Our team thoroughly enjoyed performing to a discerning, engaged audience.

Team Shraddha looks forward to performing more at the Soorya Festival in the coming years! A few pictures from the shows.

We are travelling to Trivandrum with our two plays - Sangeetha Payithiyam and Kongai Thee - to perform at the Soorya Theatre Festival.

We are performing Sangeetha Payithiyam at the October Theatre Fest happening in the Sir M***a Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall premises.

This is the first time this festival is happening and we wish the organisers all success. We also hope the success this year translates to more editions of this fest in the coming years.

Our show is at 2:30 PM on the 26th of October (Sunday) at "Prem Vihar" inside the Sir M***a Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall premises. Ample parking available - but plan for rain and traffic!

We are doing a memorial show of Sangeetha Payithiyam for our dear Shivaji sir on 29th of October at Narada Gana Sabha.

A few close associates and important contributors to Tamil drama will also speak about their memories of Shivaji sir during the occasion.

All are welcome! Please bring children along!

Today, Theatre Shraddha lost one of its founders and guiding lights - Mr. Shivaji Chaturvedi.

While we deeply mourn this irreparable loss, we want to reflect and celebrate an extraordinary life!

Shivaji sir was a towering yet gentle presence in all of Shraddha's plays since inception. His generosity - from ensuring that everyone left rehearsals with a full heart and stomach to making each new member to the group feel included - has been a constant source of inspiration for all of us.

With his superlative wit and unique charm he ensured he connected with everyone during rehearsals and there was never a dull moment when he was around.

Well into his seventies, he disliked being called "thaathaa" or "uncle" even - and urged young people (even children) to call him by name.

Being a practising magician, he always had a trick up his sleeve - quite literally too - to charm anyone!

Shraddha was his big life project. Along with his dearest friend TD Sundararajan, Shivaji sir worked tirelessly for Shraddha, networking extensively to garner support so that Shraddha thrives and continues beyond his time.

Today, even as we mourn this loss, we are confident that Shivaji sir's spirit will strengthen our resolve to take Theatre Shraddha to greater heights.

RIP Shivaji Sir! We know your blessings are always there with us.
