Hi there! We have some good news for foreign workers in Romania!

The Romanian Government has a new law to help people who came to work in Romania but whose visa or work permit has expired. The Government wants to help you stay and work in Romania, and it doesn’t cost you anything!

Is this for you? Yes, if:

You came to Romania to work
Your visa or permit has expired
You have do not have a prior return decision issued

What do I need to do?

1.⁠ ⁠Visit in person your nearest Immigration Office and tell them your current address in Romania. You must do this before June 26, 2026.

2.⁠ ⁠Once you have completed step one, you can apply to keep living and working in Romania without a new visa. You just have to do this before December 31, 2026.

Will I get in trouble?

No, you won’t get in any trouble. If you go to the Immigration Office, you will not be detained and you will not be sent home, unless prior arrangements were made for you to be returned. The aim is to help you be able to stay legally and protect your rights.

What should you do now?

Go to your nearest Immigration Office as soon as possible. Remember to only trust information from official sources, this help is free, and know that we are here to help you.
