Vardan is the national platform for enlarging people's choices who are already engaged in some sort of voluntary work by expanding volunteers' capabilities and addressing their economic needs and responsibilities. Capabilities that help volunteers lead long and healthy lives, become knowledgeable and have access to resources needed for decent standard of living and freedom to make choices which th
e value. Choices which include political, social, economic and cultural freedom, a sense of community, opportunity for being creative and productive and finally leading to earn livelihood. Vardan provides an opportunity to serve the community and provide self employment opportunities to the unemployed volunteers' and those volunteers who are having low income will be able to maintain their personal and social life very well. We feel proud that in India people come forward with their zeal and enthusiasm for the development of the country. Volunteers are more integrated into the community and more likely to be involved in a range of social, sporting, community groups and civic activities as well as volunteering. But many people in India have to struggle for their livelihood therefore, inspite of having integrity for work they are unable to contribute their time and effort in any kind of social activities. On the other hand, the people who do not have any problem of livelihood and they want to serve the society but due to lack of communication and proper guidance are unable to contribute their time and efforts in service of others and community. Vardan through its voluntary nature performs two major roles; a) the development role, which aims to improve the physical quality of life of volunteers covering different aspects of development by capacity building and assisting volunteers in employment prospects by teaching the volunteers valuable job skills; b) the mobilization role, which attempts to mobilize the volunteers so that they can look after their own development and be economically independent.
