Career[edit]
She made her debut with the Telugu film Maruthi Dasari's coming of age story Bus Stop (2012), winning critical acclaim for her performance as Seema, a flirt. Featuring alongside an ensemble cast including Prince, Kanna and fellow debut actress Sri Divya, the film opened in November 2012 to a positive critical and commercial response at the box office. A critic noted "she has magnetic looks and can be promising if planned her career properly", while another wrote she "totally rocks her character of a femme fatale with judgement issues and a good heart."[2][3] Within two days of release of the film, she was offered the lead role opposite Varun Sandesh in his next venture Priyathama Neevachata Kushalama and began filming later in the year. The film released in March 2013 to negative reviews, though a critic claimed "the saving grace for the film is performance of the lead pair - Varun Sandesh and Hasika", adding that Hasika "looks traditional and has put up a decent show as well."[4]

Raksh*ta was next seen in Vijay Maddala's next directorial venture Green Signal, where she appeared alongside newcomer Revanth, though the film garnered negative reviews.[5] In early 2013, she had also signed on to appear in the Tamil film, Poriyaalan alongside Harish Kalyan, written by Manimaran. During production, the scope of the film became larger after it was announced that director Vetrimaaran had chosen to invest in the venture as a co-producer.[6] She won positive reviews for her performance, and the film had a moderate run commercially. The actress then went on to sign another Tamil project, Prabhu Solomon's directorial venture Kayal, in which she plays the title role. The director decided to rechristen her as Anandhi from Raksh*ta for the film, and she was selected after auditioning twice before impressing Solomon.[7] In the film, she portrayed a young village girl who goes searching for her lover, only to be caught up in the midst of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami and upon release, won critical acclaim for her portrayal. Rediff.com noted she "was the perfect choice" and that she "seems so ordinary, so real, that you find yourself rooting for her compelling love", while Sify.com wrote she delivered "a truly excellent performance".[8][9] Likewise, a critic from The Hindu noted "fresh-faced Anandhi looks lovely, and she performs pretty well too", while the actress went on to be nominated for several Best Debut Actress awards for 2014, including at the Vijay Awards.[10]

In 2015, Anandhi's first release was in A. Sarkunam's Chandi Veeran produced by Bala, in which she portrayed the romantic interest of Atharvaa's character.[11] Anandhi then worked on the adult comedy flick Trisha Illana Nayanthara (2015) starring working alongside G. V. Prakash Kumar.[12] She won positive reviews for her role of a young woman who constantly wards of lecherous attention from Prakash Kumar's character, with Sify.com adding Anandhi "looks cute and might go places if she picks the right scripts".[13] Post-release, Anandhi revealed her displeasure at working with the director and revealed that she was led to believe that the film would be a "cute love story" and not an "adult comedy". The film, however, became a large commercial success at the box office and Anandhi later helped promote the release of the film's Telugu version.[14] Her next release will be Vetrimaaran's crime drama film Visaranai that will see her playing a Telugu girl.[15] Besides, she is working on the action film Pandigai and the Prabu Solomon production, Faisal.[15]

Women centric movies are a rarity in Tamil cinema but being a film maker with difference, Prabhu Solomon has titled his soon be released film as Kayal which is the character name of Anandhi who is playing as the heroine in the film.

Sify.com had a quick chat with Anandhi who is super busy with her next film with another maverick director, Vetrimaran.

Anandhi's foray into cinema is not pre-planned but because of an opportunity came on her way. When Anandhi participated in a dance competition, a Telugu director spotted her talent and cast her in Bus Stop, which went on to become a hit.

When Anandhi came to know that Prabhu Solomon was conducting an audition for a new film, she participated and immediately the director signed her as the female lead. Anandhi says "I'm a huge fan of Prabhu sir's movies and after my audition he told me that the film's title is Kayal which is based on my character and I was on cloud line".

Anandhi considers Kayal as an important film in her career, the actress says "Till now, no Telugu movie has been titled with the character name of a heroine and I feel really blessed for acting in Kayal which happened very soon in my career". Anandhi adds "Before Kayal, my understanding about cinema was different but now I feel that acting is something special and there are many things other than just being a heroine".

On working with Prabhu Solomon, Anandhi says "Prabhu Solomon is one director who explains scenes in detail and specifies the exact emotions he needed". Anandhi explains, "Prabhu sir won't settle with 20% performance , he will make sure to extract the best from us".

Speaking about her character in the film, the actress says "Kayal is an innocent girl who is not aware of things happening in the world and how love changes her life forms the crux of the story". We tried our best to get the entire story but you know this girl is clever enough to reveal only the abstract of her character!

Speaking about her co-star Chandran, Anandhi says "Chandran is very supportive and he didn't act like a new comer, he performed as if he is an experienced actor so inevitably there was a healthy competition".

On Vetrimaran's Visaranai, the actress says "I'm a big fan of Vetrimaran sir . Oh wait... Actually I'm a big fan of Dhanush and when I saw Aadukalam, I became a fan for Vetrimaran too".

As she said Dhanush's name, we asked her to list out the Tamil heroes whom she likes and Anandhi says "I like Dhanush and then Vijay... Actually I like everyone because all are having a unique talent right?"

When we asked her to compare both Vetrimaran and Prabhu Solomon, the dusky beauty says "Well, Prabhu sir is known for handling high peak emotions whereas Vetrimaran sir's style is different and I can tell you that the romantic sequences in Visaranai have come out really well".

Anandhi has also finished shooting a village based rom-com with Atharavaa and the film is directed by Sargunam of Vaagai Sooda Va fame. The actress heaps praise on the director by saying "Sargunam sir is very kind that he looked after me like his own daughter."

When we asked her about working with three talented directors in the beginning of her career, the Kayal girl says "I really don't know, I think I'm really blessed to work with such talented people"
