🏛️ Inauguration of the New Office Building – Mercantile Marine Department, Mangalore

The Mercantile Marine Department (MMD), Mangalore, is inaugurating its newly constructed office building on 13th November 2025 at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Stadium, Panambur, Mangalore.

🚀 Chief Guest:
Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Union Minister, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

🌊 The Mercantile Marine Department, Mangalore, functions under MMD Kochi and the Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai, overseeing maritime operations across Karnataka’s 320 km coastline — including the New Mangalore Port, Karwar Port, and 12 minor ports.

🏗️ Constructed at a cost of ₹9.51 crores, sanctioned by the Directorate General of Shipping, this modern building will enhance maritime administration, operational efficiency, and service delivery across Karnataka’s maritime sector.

🌿 This inauguration marks a significant step toward advancing India’s Blue Economy and strengthening maritime infrastructure under the leadership of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
