We are happy to share with you the highlights of Pacific Basin’s Officers’ Seminar that took place recently in Kolkata. The event was a great success, gathering 60 officers and managers for knowledge sharing, promoting a strong safety culture and boosting performance in Pacific Basin.

A big thank you to all participants! We eagerly anticipate organising more events to nurture growth, innovation and success in Pacific Basin.

Pacific Basin has long been an active member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (“MACN”) which strives through collective action to eliminate all forms of corruption in ports and elsewhere in the maritime industry.

Last week, Pacific Basin's Capt. Joshua Henry Peris Bhatt represented PB in discussions at MACN’s Spring members’ meeting in Copenhagen as well as in a session with leadership from various Port State Control MOUs. This was a valuable opportunity for MACN and PSCs to hear personal, candid and eye-opening accounts from experienced Masters like Capt. Joshua about challenges that the crews face in ports around the world, often amounting to extortion, the threat of physical harm and/or improper fines and delays to our vessels.

PB commend you Capt. Joshua for helping MACN and PSC authorities better understand the issues so that they can better tackle them. We wish you smooth sailing as you return to sea this week as Master on the Ultramax vessel “North Island”.
