In most of the Tibetan settlements, a large part of the workforce remains either idle or not engaged in any meaningful livelihood-oriented activities. This not only generates a serious threat of high engagement towards alcoholism, drug abuse, and other socially undesirable activities but keeps the strength of the younger generations at stake. Therefore, having felt the necessity to provide the une
mployed youths with skills training and to encourage them toward setting up small enterprises through micro-credit facilities which will keep them engaged and become a contributing member of the community, the Tibetan Career Centre was established. TIBETAN CAREER CENTRE (TCC): The Tibetan Career Centre (TCC) is a project run under the Youth Empowerment Support, the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration. It is a non-profit program that aims to meet the need of professionals in the growing global market, explore skills-related training avenues, and create better employment opportunities for the Tibetan Youth. Tibetan Career Centre’s vision is to help sustain Tibetan Youth by providing informative guidance towards relevant skills-oriented training, professional career employment, equipping them with necessary employability skills, and motivating them toward becoming ethically self-reliant. This project came up after a research study carried out by Techno serve in 23 Tibetan settlements in India and found that 60% of the Tibetan youths are either seasonally employed or completely unemployed. This was seen as a grave problem that needed to be addressed accordingly. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT:
>To address unemployment issues in the community
>To provide vocational training including employability & soft skills
>To disseminate information on Career & job opportunities
>To provide parental, Career and Psychological counselling
>To promote micro enterprise through vocational education & informative guidance
