A seafarer’s family should never depend only on phone calls during an emergency.

When a seafarer goes missing, gets seriously injured, or passes away, the family is already under stress. In that moment, verbal updates can create confusion, delay, and misunderstanding.

That’s why the first rule is simple:

Ask for everything in writing.

Ask clearly:

✅ What exactly happened?
✅ Where did it happen?
✅ Where is the seafarer now?
✅ What official action was taken?
✅ What wages, insurance, compensation, and benefits are due?
✅ Which documents and reports are available?

Do not accept vague answers.
Do not rush into signing any final settlement without proper review.

This checklist is not just information.
It can help a family stay prepared, ask the right questions, and protect their rights during the most difficult time.

Save this post.
Share it with every seafarer and their family.

366 VESSELS BANNED!
Is Your Career at Risk? 🚨The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has just released DGS Order No. 08 of 2026, taking a massive stand against seafarer abandonment.

With 366 vessels now officially Restricted or Blacklisted, joining the wrong ship could lead to non-payment of wages, repatriation struggles, and extreme hardship.
What you need to know:The Ban: No RPSL agency is allowed to recruit Indian seafarers for vessels listed in Annexure I or II.
Verification: You must verify the IMO number via the ILO/IMO Joint Database before signing any contract.
RPSL Limits: Deployment on any vessel is now restricted to a maximum of two authorized RPSL companies.
Action Plan: If you are currently on a restricted vessel that lacks valid MLC financial security, your RPSL must facilitate your safe sign-off and repatriation.
Don’t let your hard-earned career be compromised by unsafe vessel management.

Stay informed and stay safe.🚢 Want to check if a specific ship is on the ban list?Comment “VESSEL” below, and I will help you check the status! 👇

Every seafarer’s worst nightmare is playing out right now for a family in Mirzapur. 💔

Second Officer Manish Dwivedi has been missing from the Marcus Hook Port in the USA since May 7th. The most heartbreaking part? His ship, the Sifnos Lady, has already sailed without him.

Instead of transparency, his grieving father is facing a wall of silence, switched-off phones, and conflicting stories from the manning agency and crew. We leave our families behind to keep the global supply chain moving—we deserve better than to be abandoned in a foreign port.

As a community, we cannot stay silent when a brother is left behind. We need the authorities, the shipping company, and the Ministry of External Affairs to step up immediately.

🗣️ To the entire Indian maritime brotherhood: Let’s use our collective voice.

Let’s make enough noise to get Manish’s family the answers they desperately deserve. 🙏

5:30 AM Pump Room Smoke: A Tanker Incident That Could Have Turned Deadly😨

At 5:30 AM on 28/02/2023, a crude oil tanker was discharging cargo at Vadinar SPM when Cargo Oil Pump No. 1 suddenly shot up to 2500 RPM and tripped.

Soon after, smoke was observed coming from the pump room.

The crew immediately stopped cargo operations, activated the emergency response, sealed the pump room, stopped ventilation, started boundary cooling, and monitored the bulkhead temperature.

At one point, the temperature reached nearly 200°C — but because of quick action and proper emergency response, a major disaster was avoided.

This incident is a strong reminder for every seafarer:

Never ignore abnormal pump readings.
Always monitor RPM, temperature, vibration, alarms, trips, and interlocks.

Stay alert. Stay prepared. Your quick action can save lives at sea.

"On 10/02/2023, while the vessel was drifting off Osaka Bay, the incident occurred while the fitter was working on the lathe machine for polishing the pump spindle. The fitter's gloves got stuck in the lathe machine and injured his right-hand little index finger.
The cause appears to be the thread inside the gloves that cut his finger while the gloves were stuck. RMA was contacted and first aid medications were given as per RMA advice. The fitter was medevaced to a local hospital and the NOK was informed.

This real incident is a reminder that safety is not optional onboard — it’s survival.

🚫 Never ignore risk
🚫 Never skip toolbox talks
🚫 Never assume “it won’t happen to me”

👉 Because one moment of negligence can cost a lifetime.

🧠 Key Takeaways:

• Proper planning before working on systems
• Always establish & cross-check safety barriers
• Risk assessment must be discussed before work

👉 Stay alert. Stay trained. Stay safe.
