The ATHMA Premier League - 2019 (APL-2019) an inter-company cricket tournament was organised by ATHMA (Association of The Human Resources Managers and Aspirants). The matches were held over three weeks starting 24th Feb 2019 culminating with the grand finale on 10th Mar 2019.

Totally 32 teams from various industries like Renault Nissan, Apollo Tyres, JK Tyres, Yamaha Motors, Royal Enfield, Tempel, Rane, Dana, Essar etc. competed for the maiden APL – 2019 Trophy. In the nail-biting final match played in PERI Institute of Technology grounds, Mannivakkam, with a scintillating six in the last ball, Salcomp stole away the APL-2019 Winners cup from Apollo tyres. Apollo tyres finished as first runners-up and JK Tyres won the second runner-up trophy.

Mr. S. Rajesh Kannan, IPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sriperumbudur sub division, Kancheepuram, the Chief Guest for the APL-2019 Award Ceremony, gave a short inspiring speech and gave away the team trophies. Top leaders and HR professionals from various industries were present during the award ceremony. Mr. B Rajesh Kumar, Director - PERI Software Solutions represented on behalf of the PERI group which sponsored the college grounds for hosting the tournament. Mr. Thomas Matthew - Unit head of Apollo Tyres spoke on the benefits of Sports from an industrial perspective. Mr.Soundarapandian, VP – ATHMA forum extended a warm welcome and Mr. Amaladoss, President- ATHMA, shared few words about vision and purpose of ATHMA and its future plans. APL-2019, which is the first of its kind by a HR Forum, bringing together workmen and Management staff to play together as one team, forgetting their differences and positions, will definitely help in improving the Employee relations in their respective industries which is very critical to the success and sustainability of any business. Mr. Lawrence, Secretary-ATHMA, gave the Vote of thanks and the event concluded with a High Tea.

The guest was welcomed by the Placement Officer, Dr Rajaganapathy & Mr Rajesh Kumar Director-PERI SKILL FOUNDATION & PERI SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS

Mr Rajan Babu explained at length about the various roles in Mechanical industries.

He also dwelt at length about how he rose from a trainee engineer to his present position as CEO. He explained about the hurdles that he had to surmount to come to this present level.

The importance of English communication skill was presented. He asked the students to read English newspapers in front of a mirror in a loud manner. He also stressed upon the need for discipline, grooming and punctuality.

The skills required for various job profiles were to be found out. He suggested that students search different job profiles on sites such as naukri.com to find out the skills needed for each type of job. Such skills were necessary to develop employability.

The guest was welcomed by the Placement Officer, Dr Rajaganapathy. Mr Rajesh Kumar Director, Peri Software felicitated the guest.

Mr P V Vasantha Kumar spoke on focussing on what we want to be. The techniques of facing issues and problems in companies were discussed at length. He also dwelt on the need of hard work with several examples.

Today’s education system was a point of discussion. The state of the country with so many educated people and even jobless engineers was analysed and suggestions were given.

Students’ motivation and willingness to work played a major role in their career prospects and growth. The students should possess thorough knowledge about companies. Language proficiency and additional language skills were to be developed.

Some examples of successful industrial principles were also discussed.

An astounding 40,000 candidates from all over India congregated at PERI campus, Mannivakkam, West Tambaram, Chennai to meet 37 companies from various fields including IT, BPO and engineering.
