Head Held High Services

Head Held High Services The official page of Head Held High Services (H3S) - your gateway to Rural!

Head Held High Services is a social enterprise that unleashes the power of rural youth through Skills, Entrepreneurship and Technology to drive their socio-economic prosperity. Our vision is to build careers for 2 million rural youth over the next decade, through platforms for talent transformation, entrepreneur development and market-linked employment creation.
‘Rubans’ is a term coined by H3S to

define neo-rural youth with raw talent, entrepreneurial spirit, global aspirations and access to technology. In our eight year journey, working with unskilled rural youth in some of the remotest districts of Karnataka, we have come to believe that the interventions of skill building, entrepreneurship and digital inclusion have a huge potential to transform and unlock the talents of ‘Rubans’, and drive economic progress in rural India.

What better way to spend Independence day than with a group of technology enthusiasts eager to solve India’s problems. Head Held High participated in the 24-hour Freedom Hack 2015 organized by the Nudge Foundation at inMobi office in Bangalore on Aug 15-16.
At the event, HHH presented two challenges:
1. Collaboration Platform of NGO’s for solving/exchanging information about common/shared problem
2. Job Portal for short-term jobs
For the two challenges HHH shared, there were many registrants eager to deep-dive into the problem to come up with a technological solution. Participants included a family (father, son and daughter), a group of college students all the way from Manipal and a few corporate techies who gave up on their holiday and partying to help out with our cause.
The ideas presented to build a Job Portal for short-term jobs demonstrated the creativity of the teams. From “how to get paid for garbage”, to “appwala” who can help villagers use phones/apps effectively to a friendly “Mitra”, a one-stop-shop multi-lingual instant job portal, to “Azaad” a scalable last-mile connect job platform that called rural job-seekers and alerted them to jobs posted using phone-callout/SMS and text-to-speech that overcomes digital divide. Azaad team (from Exotel) walked with the Head Held High recognition for the day. The technical prowess that all challenge participants showed, and their infectious enthusiasm reaffirmed the saying - “what a difference a day makes”.

One of our greatest inspirations was Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, and we deeply mourn his loss. Our Rubanomics framework draws heavily from his PURA concept, which promotes an integrated approach to rural development. Head Held High CEO Madan Padaki, who had the opportunity to meet him in person a few times, shares a beautiful gesture of Dr Kalam's in The New Indian Express, July 29 2015.
