I did a reading of my new story at the Georgetown Literary Festival… and honestly, I never thought I’d be doing this again.

After publishing “How to Thrive as a Misfit”, I really thought that was my one and done.

This story is a deeply personal one about my mom, her childhood in Penang, and how her quiet strength shaped the woman (and mother) I am today.

What made the moment even more special?

Having my mom and my son there with me.

Still feeling all the emotions from my book reading at the George Town Literary Festival. 📖

I never thought I’d write again after my first book, but “A Love Letter to Penang” pulled me back.

It’s a story about my mum’s childhood, my own third-culture journey, and the threads that connect us.

What made it extra special?
My mum and my son were there.
My heart was full.

Still feeling all the emotions from my book reading at the George Town Literary Festival. 📖

Most people who knew me growing up would never have guessed I’d end up doing this.

I was the shy one. Quiet, not vocal, always holding my thoughts inside.

Finding my voice didn’t come naturally.

It took years of unlearning, healing, and choosing to speak even when my heart raced.

And that journey led me to 3 TEDx talks, publishing 2 books, and hosting “The Thriving Misfits” podcast where I get to amplify my guests’ stories of resilience, inclusion, and courage.

That’s why this Women’s Circle means so much to me.

I want to create a space for women to reconnect with their stories and step into their voices…just like I had to learn to do.

Eight years ago, I left my corporate comfort zone with one question:
👉 What would it take for people to truly feel they belong at work?

I had often been the only woman, the only Asian, or simply the one who didn’t quite fit the mold and even called a “Diversity Token”.

Back then, I didn’t call it “inclusion”.
I just knew how powerful it felt to be seen for who I really was.

That belief became the heart of Wholistic Coachsulting Limited.

What started as a solopreneur journey has now grown into a team of passionate humans helping leaders build cultures where people feel safe, valued, and heard.

Because inclusion isn’t a policy.

It’s a daily practice of empathy, courage, and connection.

It was a true homecoming: 300+ changemakers in one room (and hundreds online) united by a shared belief: inclusion isn’t a moment, it’s a movement.

I had the joy of leading a Gen Z breakout session, sharing insights from Wholistic Coachsulting Limited study with over 1,000 Gen Z voices in Asia.

We co-created with the audience real solutions to support Gen Z across the employee lifecycle, from attraction to retention.

8 years ago, I took one of the scariest leaps of my life: Leaving behind 14 years of my corporate career in Shell to step into the unknown of entrepreneurship.

Not everyone makes it to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.

In fact, 35% of people don’t.

What if the same is true for ideas?

What if the reason they don’t “make it” isn’t because they’re weak… but because they never met the right people to carry them forward?

That’s why I’m excited to join TEDxKL Open Mic which is a space where ideas meet people, and people make ideas climb.

3 days before the world shut down, I stood on the TEDx stage in Hong Kong sharing my story about being a diversity token.

Invited to the table, yet still feeling like I didn’t belong and actually deserve to be at the table for the right reasons.

Then the pandemic hit.

In that pause, with the world quiet and still, I finally found the space to write the book I had been thinking about for years.

Growing up, Disneyland was more than just a magical place.

As a misfit navigating cultures and expectations, I always admired how Disney told stories that embraced uniqueness and wonder.

Never would I have imagined I’d one day be invited to speak at Hong Kong Disneyland.
