記得初初出嚟工作，有次老板問我就一件事嘅睇法，由於我已經知答案，所以諗都無諗就答咗佢，佢聽完之後唔係太滿意，但我又覺得已經答得好詳盡，唔知仲可以講啲乜。後來隔咗一段時間，老板失驚無神又再問我同一個問題（佢好似完全唔記得咗之前問過我一樣👴👴），我當時反應唔切，結果諗咗一陣，最後都係俾返之前個答案佢。點知佢今次竟然話我答得唔錯，你話係咪搞笑呢 ... 🙄🙄

其實答問題係一種藝術，回應時間嘅拿捏好重要，因為佢會影響對方對你答案嘅觀感；情況就有如你另一半答問你愛唔愛佢一樣；答得太快會死，答得太慢都會死 ... 你懂的 😏😏

“At some point, everything’s gonna go south and you’re going to say, this is it. This is how I end. Now you can either accept that, or you can get to work ... You solve one problem and you solve the next one and then the next. And if you solve enough problems, you get to come home."

This is a quote from one of my favorite movies, "The Martian", which is about an astronaut biologist who got stuck in Mars alone and was so desperate to go back to Earth by all means. During the process, he was faced with numerous difficult problems but he finally made it back to earth. And below are some key attributes that kept him alive during his years in Mars:

1. Be positive
2. Know your goal
3. Gather all facts
4. Break the problem into manageable steps
5. Learn from failures and make adjustments

For sure we all face challenges and setback in daily life, but it's always our attitude and good tactics that help us get through the hard time. As said in the above quote, " ... If you solve enough problems, you get to come home." But of course, all of these are just craps if his teammates didn't go back for him. Therefore, friends are as important in problem solving.

之前有個熟客講笑問點解每次見我開會或做培訓時都著白色恤衫，係唔係無時間買衫 ... 😒

記得上任美國總統奧巴馬之前都被問過同一個問題💡，佢回答話：「我每日要做好多唔同決定，有啲決定就可免則免。」

其實我衣櫃入面又真係只有白色或淺藍色恤衫，不過同色唔同款（我是有換衫的 😎），西裝永遠是深藍、黑色或灰色。經常著白恤衫係因為容易配搭，返工出門不用花太多時間襯衫，可以瞓多幾個字，而且我覺得著白色比較醒神，自我感覺良好，所以 keep 住著又有何不可呢?

的確 Decision Making 係一個頗耗費心力之過程；眼前若然做太多決定就會影響稍後所做嘅決策質量。人生在世已經夠多野煩，無謂為咗食飯著衫啲小事費剎思量。祝大家有個輕鬆嘅週末同人生 。

The Art of Management

Between 1788 and 1868, the British Government began transporting convicts overseas to various penal colonies in Australia to relieve the overcrowding prisons. They hired private ship owners for the transportation and paid them before the ship departed. And to maximize the profit, the ship owners withheld food to the convicts and some even beat the convicts to death on the way to Australia. As a results, the death rate of the convicts had once hit the highest of 94%.

In order to solve the problem, the British Government decided to change the game rule: they still hired private ship owners for transporting the convicts, except that they paid the ship owners based on the number of alive convicts when arriving the destination. As expected, the death rate of convicts had greatly dropped to the lowest of 1%.

So, this story tells us one thing: people always do things in their best interests, and the idea of management is not to change their nature, but to leverage the egoism of human beings to align their behaviors with corporate directives and core values.

去過廟嘅朋友都知道，通常一入廟先會見到彌勒佛笑臉迎人，而喺佢背後就係黑面神韋陀。相傳好耐之前佢地並唔係喺同一個廟度工作，而係分別掌管唔同嘅廟。當時出現咗一個管理上嘅問題：彌勒佛熱情快樂，吸引好多善信入廟，但佢天性豪爽，將收返嚟嘅錢丟三落四，結果入不敷支，個個月盤數都見紅。相反韋陀份人鐵面無私，審慎理財，但佢成日唧都唔笑，最後搞到無人參拜，香火凋零。佛祖發現呢個問題後就作出咗一個簡單改動：將彌勒佛與韋陀放埋喺同一間廟度分工合作，由彌勒佛負責公關，韋陀管數，最後廟嘅業務蒸蒸日上兼夾有盈餘。

呢個故事帶出企業組織架構及各職位工作內容設計嘅重要性，同時就算有好嘅員工，但佢地都要喺啱嘅位置度先能夠發揮所長。
