🐰【📅 🔔 October 18, 2026 (Sunday) - Domestic Helper Holiday Arrangements】

The second statutory holiday of October falls on October 18 (Sunday)—the Chung Yeung Festival.

This year, the Chung Yeung Festival falls on a Sunday. If Sunday is your helper's usual rest day, employers must remember to arrange a compensation day on the following day, or communicate with the helper in advance to schedule the day off within a window of 60 days before or after the holiday. It is not permitted to substitute the holiday with payment ("payment in lieu of holiday") or omit the leave.

✅ Employers are required to arrange paid holidays for helpers who have completed 3 months of continuous employment.

🥠 What if the helper is required to work on that day and cannot take the day off?
👉🏻 Give notice to the helper at least 48 hours in advance.
👉🏻 Arrange a compensation day within 60 days.

🥠 If Chung Yeung Festival falls on the helper's regular rest day:
👉🏻 In addition to the statutory holiday off, an additional compensation day must be arranged within 60 days.
