This one here goes to the managers, team leaders, or supervisors.
Have you ever wished you knew some things your subordinates secretly want you to know but are scared to tell you?
We all know how the corporate world can be brutal, so the honest ones are always screwed fast. Try practicing the following:
1. Stop micromanaging your employees. Team members need to feel trusted and valued; micromanaging communicates the opposite. Learn to delegate key tasks and give credit where due. It doesnโt make sense to employ smart people and then tell them what to do. We employ smart people so that they can tell us what to do. A boss who micromanages is like a coach who wants to get in the game. Leaders guide and support, and they sit back to cheer from the sidelines.
2. Stop playing favourites. Donโt be openly biased. Leaders who practice favouritism in the workplace have no chance of building a culture of trust. In the workplace, anything is bound to happen, and you may have a soft spot for that pretty girl or cute boy, but irrespective of your emotions, donโt let them walk all over others because they have usurped your power. No one wants to walk on eggshells around your favourites; it breeds an environment of uncertainty. On that note too, stop taking as gospel truth everything they tell you. Be objective, impartial, and fair.
