Your ATS problem is under Ctrl.

Let's make ATS less intimidating.

An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) helps employers manage job applications. Depending on the system and how an employer uses it, your CV may need to be parsed into readable information before anyone reviews it.

Here are three things worth checking before you apply:

1. Your formatting
Keep your CV simple and readable. Complicated layouts, text boxes and some tables can make information harder for certain systems to interpret.

2. Your headings
Use familiar headings such as Work Experience, Education, and Skills so your information is easier to identify.

3. Your keywords
Read the job description carefully. Include relevant skills and terms that reflect your actual qualifications and experience.

One more thing: ATS-friendly does not mean stripping your CV of all personality. It means making your experience clear, relevant and easy to read.

And no, an ATS isn't automatically rejecting every CV with a creative design. Systems differ, and employers use them differently.

Before your next application, check your CV against the job description.

Save this for your next application and share it with someone who is job hunting.

β€œI've applied everywhere, but nobody is responding.”

First, we understand the frustration. Job searching can feel exhausting when you keep sending applications and hear nothing back.

But here's something worth checking: Are you applying strategically, or just applying more?

Before your next application, ask yourself:

πŸ“Œ Does my CV reflect what this particular role requires?
πŸ“Œ Have I highlighted the skills and experience relevant to the job?
πŸ“Œ Have I read the job description carefully enough to understand what the employer wants?

You don't necessarily need to send more applications. You may need to review how you're approaching the ones you send.

Your next step?
Check your CV against the job description before you apply.

Let's talk:
Have you ever applied to so many jobs that you lost count, only to receive little or no response? Tell us in the comments.

Before you tailor your CV for a job, read the job description properly.

It tells you what the employer is looking for, and it gives you a starting point for deciding which parts of your experience deserve attention.

Look for these three things:
πŸ”Ή Skills: What abilities and tools are required?
πŸ”Ή Experience: What responsibilities or previous work relate to the role?
πŸ”Ή Keywords and qualifications: What role-specific terms, certifications and qualifications does the employer mention?

Then ask yourself:
Does my CV clearly reflect the relevant skills and experience I already have?

You don't need to invent anything. You need to identify the genuine connections between your background and the opportunity.

Your CV has the right experience. But can the employer find it?

This is something many job seekers overlook.

They assume:

β€œI've done this before, so the employer will see that I'm qualified.”

But your CV has to communicate that relevance clearly.

If your most relevant experience is buried beneath:

❌ Generic job duties
❌ Vague descriptions
❌ Long paragraphs
❌ Irrelevant information
..the person reviewing your CV may have to work too hard to find what matters.

Don't just ask:

β€œDo I have the experience?”

Also ask:

β€œIs my CV making that experience obvious?”

That's the difference between having relevant experience and presenting relevant experience well.

πŸ“Œ Save this for your next CV update.

β€œI use the same CV for every job.” πŸ‘€

If you've been doing this, you're definitely not alone.

But here's the problem:

The job you're applying for today may not be looking for exactly the same skills, experience or keywords as the job you applied for yesterday.

That doesn't mean you need to completely rewrite your career every time.

It means your CV should reflect the specific opportunity you're applying for.

Before your next application, look at the job description and ask:

- What skills are they asking for?
- What experience is most relevant?
- What keywords keep appearing?
- Does my CV clearly show those things?

And if you're not sure?

Check your CV first.
