Do you want to get noticed when applying for a job?

Having a well-crafted CV is the first step. Here are three tips to make sure your CV stands out and catches the eye of potential employers.

🔴 Make sure your CV is easy to read. Use simple formatting such as headings and bullet points to ensure important information is easy to find. My favourite font for a CV is Calibri Light size 11 or 12

🔴 Tailor your CV to the job you are applying for. Show that you have the specific skills needed for the role and highlight any achievements or qualifications relevant to the job. Find keywords in job descriptions and mirror them in your language, if you've done what they're looking for but not worded it in their terminology, it might get missed.

🔴 Check for errors. Spelling and grammar mistakes can make a bad impression - especially in sales and marketing roles! It's easy to think 'I'm good with typing', or 'Word has my back', but a small typo can catch even the best of us out. Ask someone to once over for you!

Where does your work leave you feeling satisfied and where does it leave you feeling unsatisfied? Understanding what you want to gain from your career is key to deciding if a change is right for you.

🚀 Speak to those who have made a change. Learning from the experiences of others can help you to feel more confident in your decision. Talking to colleagues, friends and family who have gone through the process can help you to identify what you might gain from a career change.

🔍 Research other industries or roles. Taking the time to research alternative roles and industries can help you to identify what is out there and if a career change is the most suitable option.

If you're considering a career or employer change, take the time to reflect and research what's out there. Understanding your motivations and researching alternative roles, companies and industries can help you to make an informed decision and a targeted interview approach. Last week we entered three teams into St. Richard’s Hospice Mr Mulligan’s Crazy Golf Competition.

Nick is a keen ambassador for the charity so the fact that two of the teams made it through to the final and one of them taking the win was great news.
It was a really fun evening, and we trust it raised a good sum for St. Richard’s Hospice.
