🤖 "Will AI Take My Job?" — A Wake-Up Call for UK Businesses and the Workforce
Last night, I watched Channel 4's Dispatches investigation into how AI is transforming the world of work — across industries like healthcare, law, and even fashion.
But the biggest twist came at the end...
💥 The presenter,, wasn't real.
She was entirely AI-generated — her face, voice, and movements created by technology, although you were questioning whether she was real when watching the programme!
There were some things in there that all of us should be taking note of as AI develops
📊 AI is already embedded in UK business.
3 in 4 bosses say they've implemented AI to handle tasks previously done by people.
⚙️ Recruitment is slowing down.
41% of employers admit to reducing hiring due to AI — and almost half expect further cuts within five years.
🧠 AI can outperform humans in certain tests.
In one example, an AI GP diagnosed patients faster than a real doctor - although in one case, AI did misdiagnose a patient!
🎨 Creative and skilled roles are under pressure.
One viewer summed it up: "AI is killing creativity and skilled jobs which people have taken years to master."
🗞️ But human judgement still matters.
Channel 4 confirmed that AI can't replace trusted, fact-checked journalism and that same truth applies to hiring: technology can enhance decision-making, but not replace human understanding, empathy, and connection.
💡 The takeaway?
AI will reshape the workforce — but those who invest in reskilling, adaptability, and human intelligence will thrive. The challenge for employers isn't replacing people with tech — it's integrating AI responsibly while keeping people at the heart of progress.
💬 What do you think?
Is AI a tool to empower the workforce — or a threat to it?
