💼 "Hybrid creep" — the quiet return to office that's dividing opinion.

I get it from both sides.

Many want collaboration, culture, and those "corridor conversations" back.🗣️

Whereas others want flexibility, focus, and freedom from the commute. 🚆

Somewhere in between sits hybrid creep where two office days become three… then four… without anyone ever announcing a change.

For employers, it's often not malicious — it's about re-establishing team rhythm.

But for employees, it can feel like a switch that can erode trust quickly when expectations move without communication.

Although flexibility is not a one size fits all situation as a recruiter, I can tell you that flexibility is still one of the top factors driving candidate decisions.

But so is connection, culture, and belonging, those things are harder to build through a screen.

The challenge for businesses isn't picking a side — it's clarity.

Have you noticed the new trend of "hybrid creep" in your world? And is it a problem… or just the pendulum swinging back?

I'll admit it — my mood's dipped a bit since the clocks went back. 🕰️

And I know I'm not the only one feeling it.

Not only is the market tough, but now., but less sunlight also brings its challenges.🌚

As the clocks go back and daylight hours shrink, many of us feel that familiar slump — but for some, it's more than just the "winter blues."

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a major depressive disorder that affects millions of people in the UK, often leading to exhaustion, social withdrawal, low motivation, and difficulty focusing.

In the workplace, SAD can have a real impact — from decreased productivity and engagement to increased absenteeism. But with the right support, it's manageable.

✅ Encourage flexible working where possible
✅ Create well-lit, welcoming office spaces
✅ Normalise conversations around mood and mental health
✅ Share resources for light therapy, counselling, and wellbeing support

This isn't about "snapping out of it" — it's about recognising that mental health fluctuates with the seasons, and supporting colleagues accordingly.

☀️ Let's make sure no one has to "power through" in silence this winter.

Do you suffer with S.A.D? How do you cope?

🍻 Is anyone else starting to think the real workplace problem isn't burnout… it's hangovers?

We've always called it "team bonding" = but if half the team calls in sick the next day, who's it really helping?

According to new research, 1 in 3 people in the UK have called in sick in the past year after drinking with colleagues.

Nearly half of young professionals have done it, although, other research tells us that this demographic are drinking less? 👎🏼

And loads of people admit turning up to work hungover and barely functioning.

We've all seen it. The Monday morning zombies, the shaky hands on Teams calls, the "don't talk to me till noon" faces.

We talk about wellbeing, performance and inclusion… then build our "culture" around pints and Prosecco. 🥂

Does that even make sense anymore?

Especially when 43% of 18–24 year olds say they've called in sick after work drinks — and a third feel pressured to drink just to fit in.

I'm not saying cancel the pub (God forbid - I love a pub! 😅).

But maybe it's time to admit that "a few drinks after work" isn't always harmless.

We care told now that this could be seen as exclusion dressed up as fun — and it's starting to cost us more than just a fuzzy head.

So I'm curious:

👉 Has workplace drinking culture gone too far?
👉 Or is it still just part of the job in the UK?

Curious to know what you think?

🤖 "Will AI Take My Job?" — A Wake-Up Call for UK Businesses and the Workforce

Last night, I watched Channel 4's Dispatches investigation into how AI is transforming the world of work — across industries like healthcare, law, and even fashion.

But the biggest twist came at the end...

💥 The presenter,, wasn't real.

She was entirely AI-generated — her face, voice, and movements created by technology, although you were questioning whether she was real when watching the programme!

There were some things in there that all of us should be taking note of as AI develops

📊 AI is already embedded in UK business.
3 in 4 bosses say they've implemented AI to handle tasks previously done by people.

⚙️ Recruitment is slowing down.
41% of employers admit to reducing hiring due to AI — and almost half expect further cuts within five years.

🧠 AI can outperform humans in certain tests.
In one example, an AI GP diagnosed patients faster than a real doctor - although in one case, AI did misdiagnose a patient!

🎨 Creative and skilled roles are under pressure.
One viewer summed it up: "AI is killing creativity and skilled jobs which people have taken years to master."

🗞️ But human judgement still matters.

Channel 4 confirmed that AI can't replace trusted, fact-checked journalism and that same truth applies to hiring: technology can enhance decision-making, but not replace human understanding, empathy, and connection.

💡 The takeaway?

AI will reshape the workforce — but those who invest in reskilling, adaptability, and human intelligence will thrive. The challenge for employers isn't replacing people with tech — it's integrating AI responsibly while keeping people at the heart of progress.

💬 What do you think?

Is AI a tool to empower the workforce — or a threat to it?

🍻Is Britain falling out of love with the pub?

Once the heart of every community, pubs are now fighting for space against coffee shops, delivery apps and wellness culture.

Apparently we are swapping cask ales for cappuccinos… Friday nights out for Deliveroo nights in and while the number of pubs keeps shrinking, cafés and coffee chains keep multiplying.

The question is — are we changing, or is the pub just standing still?

The modern drinker is health-conscious, time-poor, and social in different ways. The old "pint and a chat" is competing with brunch culture, craft coffee, and sober socials.

Many pubs are adapting their offering, with better food, credible coffee, even games and experiences — but are a lot of pubs still stuck in the past?

So this weekend, where are you heading?

☕ A café with Wi-Fi?
🍔 A pub meal?
📱 Or just a sofa, a screen, and a takeaway?

Because maybe it's not just pubs under threat — maybe it's how we connect that's really changing.

Now winter is approaching one of my simple pleasures is a Sunday Lunch at a great pub near a roaring fire - although may be I am getting old!

👇 What's your take — is pub culture evolving or becoming irrelevant? Are we in danger of losing a bit of our culture?

🚨 UK economy "grows" — but is it really growing jobs?

The latest figures show the UK economy inched up by just 0.1% in August.
Manufacturing grew by 0.7% ✅

But the all-important services sector — where most UK jobs sit — saw no growth at all. ⚖️

Meanwhile, the Treasury is staring down a £22bn black hole, andthe Rachel from Accounts is saying that she is looking at more tax rises and / or cut spending in next month's Budget.

Even with this so-called "recovery", the outlook remains sluggish:

📉 Business taxes are biting.
💸 Households face rising costs.
🔥 Inflation is still the highest in the G7.

So while the headlines talk of "growth", many employers feel more like they're treading water than building momentum.

💬 Question for business leaders and founders is:

How does this climate affect your confidence to create jobs in the UK?

Are you pushing ahead — or holding back until things stabilise?

👇 Let's hear what it looks like from your side of the economy.
